Well by the looks of this thread, it seems that regardless of whom you speak to at Midshipmen Personnel, we should all be getting that letter with Company Information as well as addresses within the next few days.

I just talked to her and she explained that they have had a shortage of box numbers and people are being shifted around as they add more boxes. She said that not all the numbers are final and that it is best to wait until things have solidified. She doesn't want people giving out an address to friends and family and have it turn out to be wrong. She's frustrated with the calls because she is short staffed today and fielding tons of calls.

On that note... They have had many more accept offer this year and are well over the normal admit numbers. Much shuffling is being done.

tx---my little brother is in 2nd co, so he at least did plebe summer w/ 1st as A company..wasn't bad at all for him..for being a person who typically doesn't do well with structure and organization, he had no real complaints about plebe summer. as far as companies in general go, its hard to say. my company was awful plebe year but has since become one of the more chill companies in the brigade..will that stand next year? probably not. my classmates and i didn't like the way things were run. each company is all of what you make of it and although some of the companies' reputations are upheld by the company officer, the upperclassmen often set the tone. so, you may have one class that doesnt care, and the next cares too much, etc. just go into plebe summer forgetting any rumors you may have heard.. (by the way, it used to be no fun 21...so maybe things got a little mixed up anyway..)

thank you for your insight. I am glad to hear that. I guess it really does matter who is in charge. Also, even if it was a "bad" company, all that matters is what you make of the experience. Any experience can be bad if that is what you decide is going to be, although I have to say I would rather be in one of the fun companies.

tx--what i also forgot to say is it really depends on your class in your particular company..some classes are really close and it doesn't matter how the upperclass are..other classes tend to form lots of cliques and such...either way, remember you're all in it together! enjoy the next couple weeks and see you & your classmates on i-day!

You guys should not be calling just to find out your company. As someone metioned, you, as an entire class, are "annoying" admission and MIDPERS folks. If you had 100+ phone calls a day asking for which company someone was in, you would be annoyed to.

Hold off and you will find out when you get there. After all, it isn't a big deal whether you know or don't at this point. As long as your parents get a mailing address, everything will work out.

In the military, sometimes you don't find out things until the last minute. I just checked in to San Diego yesterday and I am awaiting to find out when I fly to my ship. It could be any day and I am not going to be "bothering" the YNs by constantly asking when I will be shipping out -- they have a huge group of people to deal with and they don't need someone distracting them from more important things. When they tell me, I will go.

Let the Academy staff focus on their jobs, unless you have an extenuating circumstance!

Ah well I called earlier today and the woman was very polite and told me I would be in November company, 25th platoon.

I called today as well and the lady in the admissions office was more than willing and happy to help me out. All I asked was for my PO Box and company information so I can let family and friends know when they come into town for a going-away party.

Yes, I could have waited, but if they don't mind releasing that information, there is no harm in asking. The worst that can happen is they tell you to wait and you then thank them for their time. Obviously if they don't tell you your company information you're not going to "continually ask" them like jadler says. Just be respectful, duh. If you want to know, just call, it's not that big of a deal. The admissions office was more than happy to help out from what I saw today.

My advice: let snail mail work before you call. If you haven't got your letter and you are in a dire need of knowing your mailing information, then make the call.

All of your calls, collectively, can become taxing...especially if the information can be obtained from another means (mail). Why call and bother admissions if you can possibly avoid it? I am thinking in terms of making others lives easier, regardless of whether the admissions office is willing to provide the information via the phone.

Let me add...just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should always do it.......you will see what I mean through your four years.

The admissions department right now along with ops is very busy right now preparing for I-day. Even though you are being polite there is still better stuff that the admissions staff and TAD Ensigns could be doing to help prepare for YOUR I-day. You will find out your company soon and will be there for the next four years. Even knowing your company will not help you get ahead in anything. Companies change and a previous class's experience in that company does not mean that is how it is going to be for you. Even if every member of your class calls that is over 1200 calls giving out information that will be available to you very soon.
