RDML Klein actually has a very important job! I am sure she is doing a fine job.

To have a Flag officer as N3, other than being on a Joint or OPNAV staff, means that the position/oversight has great importance.

okay so new question: over plebe summer, is it like NASS where they put all of the plebes in a general wing or two of bancroft, or do we, right from the get go, live in our company areas of bancroft, and essentially spread out over the entire dorm? just wondering. btw does anyone know what wing 10th company lives in?

no, you do not live in your company area during plebe summer. there will be a big moving day at the end of the summer to your company areas. you will be given a very small amount of time to move all your things without using certain p-ways or elevators...
it's a challenge!

You have more faith than I do. Lets just hope there is a better outcome on this job than the outcomes from the last one she had.

Yes it does. Does not mean those doing it are necessarily competent doing it however. A leak of company information on a facebook network does not sound very reassuring.

As I understand it, the leak occurred because someone who had legitimate access to the network chose to post the information. That kind of thing is not the fault of network adminstration or design.

navy2010,

Well in that case, it is also her fault for every COMSEC/Electronic Spillage incident that has occurred in the Fleet since she took over at NETWARCOM. Re-read what you posted -- it sounds really ridiculous.

If what you are saying is true, it is also the CNO's direct fault for every ship grounding that occurs under his/her watch. Just doesn't make any sense.

Not necessarily "fault" but responsible.

2010, I'm with you. This is getting scary! The Peter Principle @ work ...

Well I admit I was salting the wound a bit-

Relax Jadler-
I am still perturbed over the whole "only one-meal-one-day" 8 week food debacle, and I will admit is has colored my perspective a tad!

Anyway, what's a few company lists floating aroud in cyberspace! Let’s just hope we don't leak anything really important!

navy2010: you need to let the food issues rest. I have talked to numerous avaitors who have served with RADM Klein as her superior, subordinate and peer. Each and everyone of them had nothing but praise for her technical, professional and leadership abilities. She is also being given high praise for her efforts as N3 at NETWARCOM. Before you attempt to belittle someone, I suggest you look what the responsibilities of the N3 position are:
Rear Admiral Margaret D. Klein became the Naval Network Warfare Command Operations Officer in June 2008. With responsibilities for effective operation of the Navy’s communication systems and computer networks, she advises the NETWARCOM Commander on mission implications associated with telecommunications, space assets, information operations and networks.

I have heard that the class of 2013 has been sent their companies. It is all out in the open for them. Time for this to die...

Surprised that a "lets post our companies" has not started on this site. Maybe they are afraid that this site will somehow find fault in doing so. It's over on the "other side" for anyone who is interested.

dadgrad- with all due respect-
I am well beyond the food issue, honest to goodness. Heck, the masterchief has them serving Starbucks in King Hall now! However, it was an issue, and I am glad ADM Fowler was able to get more funding to correct what was a very bad situation. Enough said.

As for Klein, it was her performance in front of the BOV when this whole thing was exposed that has cemented my opinion. I do not have to belittle her performance- her actions spoke volumes- they were an embarrassment and an insult to everyone sitting in that room on that day, me included.

I have very little understanding or appreciation of what a N3 at a Netwarcom does- right over my head. But I do have an appreciation for someone who can admit when something is wrong- a simple " we made a mistake and are taking steps to correct it" would have worked just fine. That would have been leadership. What the BOV and this parent got was a 20 minute excuse-ridden powerpoint presentation and a failed attempt to justify the unjustifiable- a little overkill for the "one day one meal" declaration, don't you think?

With all due respect for the aviators you mentioned, the BOV got it, this parent got it, and ADM Fowler got it.

Wish her all the best. Glad she is out and Capt Klunder is in-that is the best I am going to be able to muster. Thanks for the job description- but last I looked, the job description states the expectations, not the competency and performance of the individual assigned the job.

Moving forward.
