Woah, really great IB scores!

I don't think NYU offers financial aid to international students. It barely gives Americans financial aid, lol. so.. yeah. And don't they need like a bank statement? I don't know. I sent my financial info anyway.

I love your volunteering work, but I feel like you still need more diverse ECs. Something that would make you stand out more.

I think you have a really good chance.

Did you take the TOEFL yet? Don't forget it's required.

Unless you're an American student, you won't get any financial aid. I don't know if this includes merit scholarships, but you may very well be excluded from those, too. Apply to NYU expecting to pay full price on everything.

OK, I think there should be some swedish scholarships to apply for here if you're going abroad that could fix that, don't think TOEFL is required after being teached in english for three years, but otherwise absolutely no problem.

Does this problem for int. students needing aid come to all/most of the better american schools or do some give it?

THE FINANCIAL AID STUFF is completly wrong. Because American student get some financial aid does not mean that foreigners cannot. There is a financial aid program for at least 70% of the alumni in the school and for almost every student having good qualities...

Hard to tell....I can't go on IB scores...with no rank, GPA, SATs....I have no clue if you have a chance. Your volunteer work is good...but that won't get you into Stern alone.

about rank, although none officially is given, the corresponding to 38 ib-points is the highest you can gain in the swedish school system, that would put me somewhere at the top 5 in a school with 2000 students. Also thinking about re-taking my EE and/or Economics giving me one or two more points. My problem will be getting high SAT scores, but i will do my best.

claudatwork, you're mistaken. NYU does not give any needbased financial aid to international students. Period. International students have to provide documentation of financial ability to pay the full cost of NYU through certified tax returns/bank statements, etc. after being accepted and before their student visa will be issued.

mixofmax, better sign up for those SATs soon if you're interested in applying this year. You'll need SATI and two SATII tests completed.

Also wonders, would it be worthwhile to take somer IB-retakes getting my score up to 41-42. Or should I spend that time on preparing for the SAT:s?
How important is SAT vs. Grades? Are the grades enough or otherwise would improving them make up for a bit poorer SAT result?
