nice to see you can do some math rszanto... haha jk.

soccergirl you should definitely aim for at least mid 600's on each SAT. the more the better. is your gpa weighted or unweighted? if unweighted then that'll really help you. make sure you spend alot of time on your essays too...

Btw you can't apply directly to GSP, it's like aiming for a consolation prize instead of 1st place, lol. And it's not General Studies Program anymore, it's now called Liberal Studies Program. If they changed program to department, it'd be LSD. lol haha yeah I'm retarded.

I think you can do, ED is such an application booster. Good luck!

Forget about writing. NYU doesn't judge the writing section, as long as you didn't totally bomb it, I doubt it'll matter. Think in terms of math and CR, if you can break 1300, I think you're okay for NYU ED. The average NYU student is about 1300-1350. I think like 75% of NYU students are within top 25, so try to bring your average up a bit. I'm like 150/1000 in my junior class.

What school are you applying for btw? Cause that matters a lot lol

In addition to reaking the SAT, also try the ACT.

Ooo CAS. I've seen some people with 1800s get in, but when your grades and stuff are a little on the down side, your essay has to be really good. Like tearjerker good, lol. My grades aren't all that spectacular either, but I'm applying to Tisch Film, so half my admissions is based on the short film I sent along, so I have a lot riding on my film.

If your a unrepresented minority (URM)? Cause that's a lot of bonus points right there too. Like two spanish girls and one black girl got into CAS this year from my school, out of the 1000+ seniors. None of the Asians got into CAS this year from my school, where we asians are like 40% lol. Two got GSP-ed but both decided to go Macaulay Honors instead and the saludictorian got into Stern but he's going to Harvard so yeah. :P First person to do so from my school in 7 years lol.

I guess ED gives a huge boost to the application process, but I had a 1390 SAT, with a 7OO Lit. SAT II and a 71O Math II SAT II. I was ranked 28 / 295 students and I have a GPA of 3.9 unweighted. My essay was strong, and I had excellent recommendations and long term extra extracurriculars (with 3+ years in each club I listed) along with several leadership positions, but me being Chinese, an ORM, probably brought me down a little. Definitely go for ED, because during RD I was waitlisted (though a few of my friends that are URMs got into either the school itself or GSP).

you can't apply for gsp, as you've already heard.

Actually you can apply directly to the new GSP program, called GLSP (Global Liberal Studies Program) that's starting in 2009. They'll probably want more students in this new program, so if you apply GLSP and ED, I think you'll definitely have a very good chance of getting in.
