A few days ago I emailed them this:

"Hello,

I was just recently admitted to NYU through the wait list. Do I need to apply for housing through the wait list application on the housing site, or do recently admitted wait list applicants get an equal chance for preferred housing as well?"

and I got this:

"Hello,

You do have to apply to be on the housing waitlist. That application is
available to you via your NYU homepage. On the bottom of the homepage
there is a housing forms link that takes you to the housing applications.
Please note that there are no guarantees that we would be able to place
you in a space however students do get placed off the waitlist depending
on the vacancies and cancellations that we receive. If you have any
further questions or concerns please feel free to contact us at
212-998-4600. Thank you.

Does anyone know when NYU students are supposed to know what housing they're in? Apparently people have until July 18th to cancel. And does applying for explorations up our chances?

FYI, waitlist housing is handed out in SEPTEMBER! I really don't think that this is where we fit. I looked at the forms, and this seems to be for people who aren't garenteed housing, and who need to wait for a room to open up before living on-campus. I believe that all freshman are garenteed housing (this is what was told to me when I was notified that I was accepted off of the waitlist). Either way, I submitted the form last week and will let you know whether or not this is what we need to do...
