GSP..direct admission?? Please help a NYU fanatic out.

So I have become obsessed with NYU but unfortunately I don't think I can get into NYU CAS. I was thinking of applying to NYU GSP but don't know if it's possible to apply directly to GSP.

An insight on my stats and such:

REALLY wanna go here..do I have a chance?!?

So is it possible for a student to apply directly to GSP? Also if anyone goes, or knows someone who goes to GSP...how is it?

No, you can't. There really isn't a logic to applying straight towards GSP anyway. If NYU doesn't think you're ready for CAS then they'll just put you in GSP.

But uhh your scores are really look and look very solid for CAS. I don't understand why you're worrying.

they WERE planning to do it for next year, but I think they changed their minds last minute, so no direct LSP (or LSD, its code name during development) for next fall.

Im worrying because of my GPA. As you saw it's pretty low for NYU standards. Then again, I dont know if the stats on college board are for Stern, CAS, etc.

Does anyone have specific standards and requirements for each individual school within NYU.

NYU's admissions website has average stats somewhere, but if I were you, I wouldn't read a whole lot into them. Every year in the spring, there's at least one thread that's something like, "I HAD GREAT STATS WHY DIDN'T I GET IN THIS IS SO UNFAIR!!!" NYU is looking for more than just numbers, so it's really hard to predict who will or won't get in. One thing's for certain - not even a 2400 SAT score will guarentee you admission. Since you're concerned about your stats, make sure to play up your other important experiences and accomplishments on your application.

You can't apply directly to gsp.
My gpa and SAT scores were higher than yours, and I took more AP classes, and I got gsp'd. That doesn't automatically mean you will, but I'm just trying to give you an idea of what to expect.

don't assume from my post that steinhardt is easier though... I didn't include my subjective stats, but it really is about being a good fit

Out of curiosity, do you go to NYU? Also, what would you say are there other primary focuses? I have pretty good ECs and a pretty kick a** essay as well. BTW if you or anyone else whose in NYU doesn't mind reading my essay and giving me your BRUTAL feedback, I would really appreciate it.

Oh, lol. I didn't realize that your GPA was low. Well, I think you will probably make GSP and a small maybe for CAS. I've noticed that most GSP students are those who have relatively high SAT scores but lower GPAs.

You can send me your essay my way if you'd like. I'm going to NYU in the fall and I think that my essay was what actually got me in.

zain.dhanani:

I graduated from NYU CAS in 2007. I'm in medical school now.

NYU tries to admit all sorts of people - that's why numbers aren't enough. Having good essays and ECs is important.

I say you have a great shot at CAS. You need to first have confidence in yourself, and hope for the best.
