I'm a senior at an international school in Mumbai, and I'm applying early decision to the CAS at NYU.
SAT I Scores:
M: 800
W: 770
CR: 720
SAT II Scores:
M: 800
I took bio and literature this month and I'd say I probably got above 700 in bio and above 600 in literature, but since they only require two SAT IIs I'll just send the bio score.
My unweighted GPA is 3.3. I'm taking the IB diploma.
ECs:
Helped start a small Jazz Combo at my school in junior year - i'm continuing this during senior year as well.
Played in a larger Jazz band during sophomore, junior, and senior year.
Helped teach hearing-impaired children how to swim during junior year.
Helped teach english at a shelter for homeless children who have been affected by HIV/AIDS over the summer - I'm continuing this through senior year.
My essay was on the influence those homeless children with HIV/AIDS had on me, and the people who read it, including my college counselor, said it was very good.
Chances please?
EDIT: Oh also I have permanent residence in the US and I'm not applying for financial aid.
Yeah, you have a very good chance, and your GPA is fine if you're taking the IB diploma because you have a difficult courseload. Honestly, I think you would be fine RD. What might hurt you a little is that you're international, but you don't need aid, so it balances out.
Also, I dunno if this will make a difference, but as my major of choice I've listed philosophy, which I'm told is mostly a female-dominated major. Since I'm a guy, will this give me an edge?
