RD Deadline Question

Hey.. This may seem like a silly question, but I'm confused about when we're supposed to send in our applications by for RD. It says by January 1st, 2010 and it has to be postmarked by then... but they go on break from December 23rd till January 4th I believe?? So do we submit the applications before then so it arrives by the 22nd??

If the deadline says its January 1st, it's January 1st.

They apparently don't really start looking at applications until maybe 2 weeks after the deadline, so their break shouldn't be a factor

You just need a postmark (or apply online by that date). But be sure to keep in mind your high school's cut-off date for transcripts to be sent (if applicable). I've heard of many schools (including my D's) who cut off transcript requests by 11/10 to 11/15 or so - in order to get transcripts to schools before Winter Break.
