stern transfer math requirement

I am a freshmen thinking of taking Calc I next semester to fulfill stern's transfer requirement(they don't take AP credits IIRC?).
The problem is I am eligible to take Calc III at my curren school because I got a 5 on AP Calc BC.
But I really don't like math at ALL and just want to have a review of Calc and fulfill the transfer requirement.
Will Stern look down on this?

My other classes for the spring semester are:
Intermediate Macro Theory
Intermediate Japanese II (3rd year level)
Freshmen Writing Seminar
Principles of Accounting

Thanks!!

What school do you go to? I go to Rutgers and I heard that Calculus 3 here is easier than Calculus 1 and 2, so you should definitely check on that first. Noone can answer you for sure about whether Stern would look down upon that or not. I recommend posting this on the official NYU forums where you will get an answer from an administrator. But, I would assume they do look upon it. I understand you don't like math that much, but you must have some sort of affinity for it, seeing as you got a 5 on the AP Calculus BC exam.

Also, I'm planning on transferring to NYU Stern for Fall '10 as well. Well, planning on applying, that is. Hello, competition.

Just call admissions and ask instead of posting on the board. You'll get an immediate answer and you won't have to give your name.

The fact that you got a 5 in the AP BC, yet you don't like math, is rather impressive. Nicely done.

May I ask how many credit hours you have for your spring semester? I think you need to complete 30-32 credit hours one year in order to be considered

And, i am in the same situation as you for Calc 1. I have transfered credits for Calc 1 and Calc 2. Why do you think Stern will look down on retaking Calc 1?

@missamericanpie
i tried calling but the admissions officer wasn't very helpful...

@esnyujind
thanks! but my class grade sucked (B-/C+) lol

@good
tufts is weird because one class only gets you 1 credit.
i should have a total of 8.5 credits after my spring semester
so if 1 credit @ tufts = 4 credits @ NYU, I will have 34 credits.

I think they will look down on retaking Calc I just because that's the minimum requirement.
plus since we've got credits for both Calc I & II, they might think we're taking it easy?

@som1
thanks. i will probably take Calc III first then drop down if i find it too time consuming.
