second degree seeker

1.I have my 1st degree in Computer Science from Jordan-overseas with 77.2% very good there.
2. I have a green card
3. I want to study fine arts (Studio arts) with some extras-hopefully- from Graphic design
4. I am a Florida resident, so for tuition I want to study in Florida
5. there are 4 public universities in Fl that are NASAD members: UF, FSU, USF, FIU.
6. UF won't take second degree seekers & FIU art department emphasize on its handbook
that they are not an computer application oriented school, I need some more balance so
I am down to: FSU & USF
7. course-by-course evaluation I think I will meet 15 credit ours of general requirements, other courses took in the general requirements there differ from what is required here.

my questions:
1. giving that I already have a recognized bachelor degree, will I still have to take more general requirements to meet the 30 hour liberal studies requirements.
2.which is better for Art Studio FSU or USF?
3. does NASAD matter for teaching quality & job prospective?
4. given my GPA will they take in consideration it is from overseas -actually tougher there to get good grades..I know because I tutor univeristy kids some programming classes-
or would it be hard for me to get in?
5. do you advice me to go to college 1st & finish the lower level requirements & get AA or
will that mean taking more classes than going right into university?

I would sit down with someone in admissions at each of the schools you are interested in and ask all of your good questions. Many of them are very school and "you" specific, so I bet you'll get the most helpful information that way.

You need to talk to these universities about applying as a transfer student. In order to complete a full second undergraduate degree in Art, you will probably have to take a number of general education classes.

As to whether NASD matters in the job market, that is a question to take to people who actually hire graphic artists. Find someone who is in the business and ask them about where their best employees are coming from. They may be coming from Miami-Dade with just an AA. In which case, you can save yourself a lot of money and time!
