What did you write about in your transfer essays?

I was wondering what kind of topics you guys chose to write about for your transfer essays? After a few false starts I wrote about how my experience as a volunteer for the Obama campaign during the primaries inspired me to go back to school, and what I've learned about myself since then.

I am planning on applying spring transfer to a couple more schools, since I have to put off transferring a semester anyway. I may change my topic, I don't know. All things considered, I guess I did okay. I was accepted to University of the Pacific and waitlisted at Occidental. I want to apply to Worchester PolyTechnic Institute, Rensselaer, and Georgia Tech. I may add a couple more to the list U of San Francisco, Baylor University, and Pepperdine are floating around in my mind right now.

Ugh, I can't believe I am worrying about transfer essays again.

You may want to consider writing about your volunteer experience on a Presidential campaign without specifying which. While it shouldn't matter, you never know who is reading it and if it may rub them the wrong way.

Well, being on the county Democratic Central Committee, a Democratic HQ volunteer, and a delegate to both the county and state convention are all part of my ECs. So I don't think mentioning that I volunteered for the campaign will turn them off any more.

I just helped a friend edit an admission essay which helped to get him into a very good school in Chicago.

The essay was about his ideas: what he had come up with as guiding principles in the past 25 years of his life, what he intended to work on while in school, "his focus" and other things which would tell the deciding panels what sort of person they had on their hands.

PoshGirl, I am not too sure that one experience would be enough-- Or "why I was inspired to go back to school."

I think they are more looking for what you can contribute-- and to do this, you need to look for your philospophy, what you can contribute to the field.

I have to write a similar essay for a master's program.
