I sent in my $200 deposit but now I just need to figure out how to pay for all of it.

My dad is covering my tuition but that means everything else is left up to me through working, student loans, etc. It is a little stressful and I applied for many scholarships (many were the ones where 8 people out of 500 receive the scholarships but I'm keeping my fingers crossed). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to cover the costs? Is it worth it to have to take out $30,000 in student loans??? How difficult is it to become an RA? Does a student have to wait one semester like UNC or longer? I'm really stressing on the $. On the other hand, my father recruits physical therapists from the Philippines and US so I am promised a job (most of the PTs he hires make anywhere from $85,00-125,00 annually. Is that realistically sufficient enough to cover student loans in about a decade?

My niece is at State and has earned some pretty good money working for a cleaning service--residential. She also makes good hourly wage tutoring for a couple families' kids (middle and high school students)--that she got somehow through word of mouth. Keep your ears open and some unusual jobs may come your way. Good luck.

PS, Will you qualify for any financial aid ? Apply for student loans. Just because you get one doesn't necessarily mean you have to use all of it if you can come up with the funds from somewhere else. I think you have to be a soph. to be a RA but that would be a good way to get your housing paid for after the first year.
Apply for all the scholarships you can. Are there some local ones where you live like the Rotary Club and stuff like that? Your high school guidance office should have info. on local scholarships.
Check the webpage of whichever college at State that you applied to and look for scholarships offered by the department. You never know. S was initially turned down for one but then ended up getting it because someone else gave it up to go to another school.
Do you currently have a job? If not, start looking for a job you can work throughout the summer and save money for school. Figure out how much it will cost you beyond what your Dad is willing to pay so you'll know how much $$ you need to get together. Is tuition cost the max. he is willing to help out on?
Check State's website for on campus employment. Since State is in the middle of Raleigh there are lots of off campus jobs you could get. My S works at a grocery store.
