nguyen0824, One of S's best friends lived in Bowen. As you know it is a suite-style dorm (4 rooms sharing one bathroom). If you go to the NCSU website and click on "students", then click on University Housing (somewhere in the middle column), you can find pictures and descriptions of each dorm with a layout design of the rooms and dimensions. Some of the dorms even have their own homepage you can check out that tells about dorm activities.
I would think you will like Bowen for it's Central campus location (close to Free Expression tunnel, Carmichal gym, etc). I hear Tucker Beach is lots of fun.

Violetblossom:
Try to get to NCSU early on check-in day. The elevators get backed up quickly and can only accommodate a few people and items. If you have a hand truck bring it to help you. Good Luck.

Also when my S moved in, there were sorority/fraternity everywhere offering to help carry stuff in. Take them up on it. Two young men helped us and we were moved in in no time.

I got a letter from NCSU that contained an order form for a loft. How do I know if I'm going to need a loft if I haven't seen the room yet? Which is better, bunk beds or having 2 lofts?

nguyen0824, Have you spoken with your assigned roommate yet?

Lofts versus bunks should probably be a decision you both agree on.

S's friend who lived in Bowen went with bunks.
My S (lived in Owen) got lofts.

If you decide on lofting, I would recommend getting the ones they offer through NCSU rather than trying to build your own. They are lightweight and easy to assemble. They were already in the dorm room when we arrived on move in day. At the end of the semester you just drop them off at a designated place on campus rather than having to drag them home with you or store them somewhere.
