What are my chances....

What are my chances getting into the First Year College (FYC) at NC STATE, I've heard there less selective then the other colleges such the college of engineering, business, biology, etc at NC State

.My GPA for my senior year will be around 3.35

.SAT-math=550-CR=500-Writing=500

.Attended NC STATES civil and mechanical engineering camp

.some EC's... life guarded 3 yrs

.some perfect scores on end of coarse test given by the state in geometry and algebra 2

.tooken physics, precal, adv algebra-trigonometry and other ap clases

also thinking about applying to UNCC and ECU

PLEASE HELP, THANX

hmmm... i think it can go either way. you def. have a good shot at FYC at State, and ECU is probably definite...

Can you get ur SAT up a little? I know I had a lower score (like 1150 cr/m) and i retook the SAT and went up to a 1260 cr/m. Why not take the test a couple more times and see if u can show some increase. It has opened me up to a lot more scholarships and oppurtunities.

I can see that you must be interested in math (all the advanced math classes) so why not take AP Calc? You may think that the college of engineering is a "reach" for you but I personally know people who were accepted with stats near and lower than yours. KEEP up the good work and work hard your senior year. (apply as early as you can)

Good luck,
Josh

well... if u apply early, they can always defer you if you show some potential. If you think it is best to wait then wait, but I would apply early if at all possible.

In "What advice do admissions officers have for 2005 applicants?"
on http://www.applescholarship.org/forstudents.html, NC State's advice was simply to "apply early"... I don't know if that is the confirmation you were looking for but def. keep that in mind.

Best of luck

The summer camp would help you a lot. If your GPA is that low weighted, your chances might be low. Your SAT is not too high but within the range for some departments.
