I think your chances are very good. Apply early (S appled in Sept.) so you'll get your decision back quickly.

Hi repoman
My husband (NCSU Mech. Eng. grad.) works in the electric power industry.
He says there will be a great need for electrical and nuclear engineers in the immediate future but also warns that those two (along with Aerospace Eng.) are probably the hardest curriculums in the college of engineering.
Mechanical eng. is prob. the most versatile. Civil Eng. and Bioengineering have less difficult curriculum but maybe lower paying jobs. Don't know much about Materials Engineering. This is all just his opinion and not carved in stone.

There are good jobs for almost all kinds of engineering majors. You should really pick the one you are most interested in.

I have a 3.5 weighted and 1790 SAT (590 math) gonna retake, and I went to the summer engineering camp at state. Also taking ap physics and calc next year, would that help make up for my low gpa?

It definitely would help you. Going to the Summer Engineering program shows NCSU that you are interested in both Engineering and their school. If you are going to be a senior, NCSU will probably not even see your senior grades just the classes you are taking so it will help you marginally.
