Hey, im a junior in High school. I'm worried i might not make it into any of the schools i chose because of my freshman g.p.a. affecting everything else.
G.p.a wise my freshman year was: 1.8 my sophmore year was a 2.7, and this year my g.p.a. is a 3.6. I'm in 3 school clubs, by the time i graduate i plan to have done 4 Ap classes, and 4 honors classes. My psat was the equilavent to a 1200 on the real Sat, and i take the real one in june.
I'm wondering if i have any remote chance to attend, my grades slipped in 9th because before i entered high school i was suffering from major depression and i didnt get any treatment for it till my sophmore year.
I'm just wondering if i have any remote chance in getting accepted.

I think you have a good shot depending on your major. A 1200+ SAT would look very good. Your grades show an improving trend and the more difficult courses are a plus.

In the optional supplemental part of the application, there's a section called "More About You". If you want, you can "Discuss any obstacles and/or hardships you have encountered and how you dealt with them." They give you 500 characters for an answer. Talk to your GC and find out what s/he advises. I'm from NY and not familiar with NC high schools or colleges.

Thanks, I actually moved from long island right before 9th grade. My counsler gets changed every year for no reason. Thank you. Personally if i got to state, i wanna do Biology and Animation/game arts. i know they both are so diffrent but i wanna do both as a career. lol im a weird person XD.

Your GPA seems very low for 9th, 10th grade year. You did start to improve a lot but I'm not sure if it will make up for your early high school slack. Best of luck.

If you want my honest opinion, I would say it is not likely unless there is a good reason for your low gpa (i.e. family problems, medical issues, etc.). Thie is simply my opinion.

He did have a legitimate medical reason - depression. Although even in this enlightened day and age it's probably not a medical condition anyone would want to share with an adcom.

Sorry, I did not read on long enough to notice the medical condition you mentioned. My apologies.

Last year when I came to some special visitation before i was accepted/applied, the program directors suggested that applicants address medical issues in the personal statment or "hardships" short answer question of the application. I am sure that they will take that into consideration if you address the issues in writing.

It seems that there was also a section for "disabilities" as the university does not discriminate against people with disabilities. You may want to check into that to see if it would be appropriate for you to address the issue in that section of the application.
