Before I begin my question I want to give some background. NC State is not my first choice right now. Currently I would go to Purdue or GT over it if I get in to either for Computer Science. However with this economic trouble I would need enough Financial aid and scholarship money to go to either. However since I'm in state for NC State I am looking at it because it is a good school for engineering (CS falls in there) and is cheaper. Here is where my question comes in?

How respectable is a degree in computer science from NC State? I know it will look good but GT and Purdue are phenomenal CS schools and are two top schools for internships and coop's. Anybody who has majored in CS have any experience post graduation trying to get jobs or maybe is currently a student and has experience with internships there? Another question I have is what kind of schools do CS students go to for graduate school? I'm thinking of that as a possibility but would not go to State for it. Thanks for any help.

I have a friend who finished his undergrad degree in computer science here at NC State, and is currently continuing as a graduate student. (I also believe he completed our co-op program, but we're not super-close and I don't know many details... something ) If you give me a bit more specific questions, I can pass them along for you. And as a kind of entertaining point- "CS" is actually "Crop Science" here. Way to go, agricultural college. The designation is CSC for computer science.

In general, our engineering college is well respected, though CSC is sort of an oddball- be prepared to have to take engineering physics/chemistry even though it has only slight relation to the degree.

Well I definitely don't want to major in crop science so I will use CSC around here. I'm going to the Engineering open house next weekend so I'll be sure to ask questions but I'll PM you if I have any Q's for your friend.

I work for a very large technology company that recruits heavily at NC State. A CS degree from NC State is very well regarded.
