Recalculating GPA

Does Northeastern recalculate an applicants GPA and if they do how so? I was just wondering because I attend a catholic school and our grading system is harder than other area public schools, for example: An "A" in my school is from a 93-96 and an "A+" in my school is a 97-100 but in the area public schools an "A" is a 90 to 100 and a "B" is an 80-89, etc.

I had saved this information from a thread somewhere a couple of months ago. Sorry that I cannot cite the thread, and I can't vouch for its accuracy. But here is what another poster wrote about Northeastern's recalc of GPA:
Quote:
However, I am finding that the second tier (major publics, large privates) that I'm looking at with my B+ student DO weight GPA's. I have specifically asked two of them, and they do it the same way: they only consider core academics - math, english, social studies, science, foreign language. They start with a 4.0 for an A, and add 0.5 for Honors and 1.0 for AP. They also add/subtract .3 for a +/- grade. Example: in a non-honors course, B- = 2.7, B = 3.0, B+ = 3.3. In an honors class, B- = 3.2, B=3.5, B+ - 3.8. In an AP Class, B- = 3.7, B=4.0, B+= 4.3. The two schools that told me they use this method were UMass and Northeastern. (Our hs uses this method because they said it's the method all the Mass state colleges/univs use).

The Northeastern rep who visited my high school also said that. We asked him how it works with our school, which is on a 100 point scale, and he said 5 points for honors and 10 for AP. this translates exactly to 0.5 and 1.0 on a 4.0 scale.

My question is, will they raise it past 4.3? As in, what if you have a 94 (which is considered an A) in an AP class? That would make it a 5.0... but will they weight it past 4.3? Because some of my highest grades are in AP classes, and it would help balance out the lower honors classes, since those only get a 0.5 boost

thanks
