| Just applied EA. How does merit aid work/will I get in?
I just submitted my EA application. I have a few questions.
1. what is the exact date/time that we get decisions? does anybody know?
2. if they decide to give you merit aid or admit you into the honors program, when would they tell you? when you get your acceptance letter?
3. what are my chances at neu? if i get in, do you think I have a shot at some merit money (and how much) or the honors program? it would really help so I can go!!
my stats...
white male from NY
630 CR; 770 M; 730 W (1400 and 2130)
top 17% of competitive high school (pretty much all 90's and above)
5 AP's this year (in all 5 subject areas)
10 varsity letters by graduation, captain of two teams, community service, deca, etc.
i believe my essay is strong
p.s. I will be applying to NEU's business school
Thanks a lot! =]

| Last Year
Last year everyone was informed online on December 18th. They got merit aid and honors decisions at the same time.

Practically everyone who gets in receives merit money. I would assume you would be in the 8k-12k range. I think you have a decent shot for honors. My stats were similar to yours minus 8 varsity letters and i'm international business and did not get it.

He said he didn't get honors, not merit.

@AutoUnion
I think you're mistaken because the EA deadline was 11/1. I doubt they can give decisions within 15 days. Plus, the website says before 12/31.

Oh crap, didn't realize my typo. I meant Dec 15th, and EA applicants have until the 31th to say YES or NO; this is what the presentation said at the info sessions

^What do you mean?
EA applicants have until May 1st to make their deposit... that's one of the biggest benefits of applying EA-- you can still wait wait to make your decision until you've heard from all your RD schools... unless you mean yes/no to financial aid or something?

^He's right. You still have until May 1st because EA is non-binding.

I'm an Admissions tour guide, and there is no early deadline for EA students to say yes or no. It's the same deposit deadline as RD students.
HOWEVER, I highly advise that you send in a HOUSING deposit if you think there is ANY chance you will be going to Northeastern!!! Actually, I advise this for ANY school got into as EA that you might go to. Your housing deposit determines when you get to select housing, and if you send in your housing deposit with your tuition deposit an hour before the deadline... don't expect to enjoy your first choice dorm.
I'm not saying you should send it in the MOMENT you get your decision. Just keep in mind that when you are deciding what to do, thousands of other students are as well. And if you wait until RD to decide, even more students will be deciding. Don't let housing be something that you regret for a whole year (for ANY school, not just northeastern).

^I agree, with one exception...
This past year, all honors freshmen were guaranteed International Village if they wanted honors housing. My friend who didn't realize she was in the honors program 'til June decided then that she wanted to live in IV still got it. So if you find out EA that got into the honors program, there shouldn't be a big rush to making the non-refundable deposit.
