Sargent is the only other fairly social North Campus dorm. It has its share of engineers and single-sex floors are perhaps annoying, but its #3 after Bobb and elder. A big no to slivka, cci, and foster house in terms of sociability.

Slivka is extremely social, it's just a different kind of social than places like Bobb. Anyone who says otherwise is not at all acquainted with the dorm - and I'm assuming CCI is similar, being another residential college. It's a much more close-knit community. You will become not just friends, but good friends with almost everybody in your dorm.

Now, if you're talking about things like partying, then, too, Slivka is not as bad as people say it is. There are plenty of people who go out of Slivka to parties. It's a bit less likely to be frat parties and more likely to be people who all know each other from some student group or something, but it's still not uncommon.

If you are looking for a stereotypical college party, [In decreasing party-atmosphere]
1. Bobb
2. FQ(Elder, Hinman-Lincoln)
3. Allison
4. 1835 Hinman
5. SOME extent Sargent&Willard (Every year a handful of decent people)

If you want a more low-key, stay in a room with friends watching movies with minimal drinking, [In increasing party-atmosphere]
1. Silvka
2. Any small res colleges (CRC, ISRC, Green, Foster House, Plex, Chapin, etc)
3. CCI
4. Shep
5. The OTHER extent Sargent&Willard (Every year a couple of weird kids)

Silvka is not in the common-sense "extremely social." It errs more on the side of "We think what we do is considered social regardless of what society tells us, so let's play video games and bake cookies to have a different type of fun."

This was my college experience. I highly doubt it's changed much since.

The only way Slivka can be considered NOT social is if you aren't using the common definition of social and are instead using it as a euphemism for having parties. Going to restaurants, movies, amusement parks, shows, etc. with your friends is, by any account, social.

Yes, there is less drinking in Slivka than there is in some of the other dorms (Bobb etc.) but that isn't to say that there isn't any. There are people in Slivka who drink, it's just an exaggeration to paint Slivka as anything like a substance-free dorm. The only difference is that, rather than drinking and going to a party, in Slivka you'll probably be drinking and then playing video games or something.

ts, to put things in perspective, nobody can really dispute jarn's version of events in slivka cause nobody that doesn't live there knows or cares about it.

sure, slivka is social in a lot of ways, as mentioned. when social is taken as a substitute for the word party (read: drinking) - as it often is - then slivka is not social when compared to dorms like bobb and elder
