| Edmonds g: I cannot attend Saturday at the Square although I think it would be of great help to my decision making if I could go. I do not think I have the grades to get into Northwestern so I'm doubting an acceptance altogether, but if I do get in it will be hard to turn down such a prestigious university. However, there is something about NYU, New York, and the vigorous professional training I will receive there which I think is possible at Northwestern, but not required (and I'm the type who needs structure or i get off track). It's going to be a very hard decision. Which studios did your son request at his NYU audition?? |

| Lotte: M son would really love CAP21, but gave Playwrights Horizon as a 2nd choice. It's interesting that you said that about the vigorous training at NU being possible but not required like at NYU... I was under the exact opposite impression, from reading the NYU boards. I'm just going by what I'm hearing 3rd-hand, but a few people have said that the opportunities that are available to theatre students are endless at NYU, but that because there are so many people vying for them, the student really has to be driven and prepared to pursue them on his/her own. My son is like you said -- he does better with a lot of structure --which is why I was thinking NU would be better for him. Oh well, they're both incredible schools... we can't go wrong with either one! How about you -- which studios? |

| edmondsg: I went for CAP 21 as well with a second choice for the Meisner Extension. Perhaps I assumed that because NYU offers a BFA that their training would be geared more toward professional trianing, and NU's BA program would be more toward a well-rounded education (although I know that NYU makes sure that you get enough liberal arts in). So, yeah I'm really just assuming. If I get into Northwestern I suppose I'll have to find someone who has an idea about this stuff and give him/her a call. For some reason, I lean toward NYU.. and I'm thinking it's New York. But NU has Chicago and the campus and... this will be tough.. but I most likely won't be getting in. |

| I've logged on several times today, but no results yet. Be sure you're closing or refreshing your browser window before logging in -- I was getting a login error until I did that.
I've been following the "when and how do we hear" thread on the Northwestern CC board - When & How Do We Hear????? -- and it sounds like the best guess is tomorrow afternoon for online results. They put them online just before they mail the letters. |

What a wondeful dilemna to have! I realize that you don't know for sure about NU yet, but I hope you do get to make this decision -- it will be hard -- and you're right -- you can't go wrong either way. Both schools have a great deal to offer, and it is up to the student to take advantage of all the opportunities the institution has to offer. Congratulations in advance!
My daughter will be applying to both schools next year, and I hope that she will be as fortunate next March 27th as you are on this one. Good luck with your decision, and as you move on to next year. Manuelo |

| Thanks, Manuelo. By the time your daughter does this next year, hopefully we'll be fully qualified to share our experiences with one school or the other! Good luck to your daughter. Will she be attending any summer programs? |

| Edmonds G-
She applied to the 4-week NYU CAP 21 program, which does not require an audition. She will not hear until the first week of May, and since the program is competitive (300 applications, 32 spots), we are now developing a Plan B.
She has not, as yet anyway, applied to any other summer programs, but has done OCU (2004) and UMich (2005)in the past. She absolutely loved both of those, but wanted to to try a different program this summer, if possible.
The wait is a bit trying, but I'm sure nothing like it will be next year, I'm sure. So my thoughts are with you and look forward to hearing your news. |

| My S received his acceptance packet today, but we ended up having to call admissions to verify his admittance, because someone else's letter (and scholarship info) was in the envelope. Luckily the other boy had my S's acceptance letter (we called them), and NU was very apologetic and accomodating, and is fedexing new packages to each of us today. What a way to wrap up this crazy process! |

| Edmondsg....first, CONGRATULATIONS to your son !!! That is just wonderful.
Second, that is a crazy crazy occurance and I can hardly imagine it. When you opened it to find another kid's acceptance, and it was the fat envelope and all, did you then wonder if the mix up could be that your son's was in another's hands and that it may not be an acceptance? That would be pretty disappointing to have THAT happen. So, you called up the kid and said, "you're accepted....I have your acceptance package here...tell me what I got!"?? Well, I realize you did call admissions in between. I can hardly imagine opening that though! What an experience....but with a happy result, phew.
Your son has fine options that differ in many ways and so he'll have to think about what he wants specifically. But what a good "problem" to have!
Best wishes...Susan |

| Congratulations Edmondsg! I really had a good feeling about it. That goes for LotteLenya too. Now the decision -- but really, it's an embarrassment of riches! Good luck. |
