Financial Aid @ NU

Does Northwestern give financial aid other than need based? Any suggestions as to how gain financial assistance, if they do indeed give it? The price tag is perhaps the only negative aspect of the school, but it might be enough to make me choose another school, even though i am in love with NU.....

We just visited NU last weekend and we were told at the info session that it is need-based only. However, I would recommend confirming with the school just in case.

FA at NU is need-based only.
They do however give $2,500 (or something like that) if you are a National Merit Finalist and select NU as your first choice.

Yes, it's need-based only, but don't overlook all the other scholarships and grants through companies, special-interest groups, etc. We didn't qualify for need-based, but my son did get a modest scholarship based strictly on GPA through my husband's work. Also, I'm pretty sure NU provides low-interest loans that aren't need based.
