Northwestern & HS Class Rank

I attended an information session during spring break, and a parent questioned the emphasis placed on class rank. I believe the admissions officer who lead the session stated that Northwestern observes extreme subjectivity on class rankings and disregards them completely.

To anyone else who attended a session, can you confirm that anyone else said this?

edit: If you want I can describe what the admissions officer looked like. ;)
