Northwestern and IB

Does Northwestern look at the IB diploma at all? Does it look good on an Application? IB is a lot of work and if you're in IB everyone basically gets the IB diploma because my school forces some IB classes. The only people who son't get it are the people who don't pass their Extended Essay. Anyways, I was wondering if it's worth to put in all the work. Also, how many AP classes did Northwestern students take when they were in high school. I'm only a sophomore in high school, but I really love Northwester. The campus is amazing and my whole family lives in that area and we're seperated and live in florida (not as amazing as people think). Sorry for this, but the MAIN question is how does Northwestern look at the IB diploma? Thanks to anyone who actually reads this.

Well, I did IB diploma and got in. I know several people who did IB diploma who didn't get in. And there are a lot of people who do AP who don't get in. However, I'm sure that if you DON'T do IB diploma, you very likely WON'T get in. IB Diploma is definitely very hard to do well in though, and if you do do well, it'll certainly look great. Although you really don't get that many credits compared to the AP tests. I'd pursue it, I think IB diploma is very good for college preparation, and there's always a strange bond that IB people make with each other, hahahaa.

I did the IB diploma, I got in. My school actually didn't offer AP courses.

So I'm guessing they saw my IB diploma schedule equivalent to an AP heavy schedule. The IB diploma, however, is for you not college admissions. You'll feel great at the end of it, but by then you will have already gotten into your schools and graduated from high school, granted you start in your junior year (which was the case for me). Not to encourage you in any way to drop your classes, but whehter or not you get your diploma or even complete it matters little to be honest.

Nonetheless, I loved the IB. Lots and lots of writing for the exams. Fun stuff.

I am doing IB in India and aim to apply to Northwestern University in the U.S. My HL's are Maths, Business and management and I.T.G.S. My SL's are Spanish, Physics and English. However, i am not performing as well in Maths HL and hence, I am considering to change to SL and take English HL instead. Would this hamper my application in a big way?
I plan to do BBA and Entrepreneur Studies.

@swim2: first off, why are you asking about northwestern if your location says brown? Anyways, i did IB diploma and I got in. I also took aps as well. (in total 7 ib, 14 aps). Ib diploma is definitely harder than ap. ib tests/external assessments are more work than ap tests for sure, but not necessarily harder. I like ib more than ap, more intellectually stimulating imo. Ib is definitely is seen at least as equally hard as ap, but it is harder to test out of courses with ib than ap for any school, including northwestern

@accentuate: your ib courses look good and I think its even advisable to take hl english to show proficiency in the language, especially for an international. HL math is hard :P
