How easy is it to double major with:

Hello, I'm planning on majoring in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. I also want to double major, though I don't know in what. Is it possible to double major in - and, if so, how difficult would it be - Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Political Science?

It's fairly easy to do double-major because of the quarter system and the fact that you'll have to take 12 courses a year, which is higher than most other schools. I came from Hong Kong and just about everyone of us double-majored, with engineering+econ being the classic one.

One of my friends did EE+econ+6 quarters of co-op in 4 years but that's before they started the engineering first curriculum. However, I don't think it makes a big difference.

Edit: i just remember she also did the leadership program. She's a little scary!!

^ Did any of your friends do IEMS/Econ? How did the workload compare to that of CS/Econ or EE/Econ?

Yes. IEMS/Econ is the most natural engineering+econ combo. In fact, there's even a worksheet in IE website that shows you what courses are double-counted for that combo. Apparently, a lot of IE people do just that.
