rice or northwestern?

i'm just back from the preview days at NU. and surprise, i liked NU as much as i liked rice. and now i'm not sure where i should go.

they are very different places, but both great.

i'm a prospective engineering student (maybe thinking premed).

any inputs?

gaaah, i can't believe tomorrow is that 'may 1st'.

fyi, below are the us news undergrad engg rankings:
NU
Engineering program rank:14
Biomedical rank:11
Chemical rank:23
Civil rank:15
Computer rank:16
Electrical rank:13
Environmental rank:12
Industrial/Manufacturing rank:7
Materials rank:6
Mechanical rank:17

Rice
Engineering program rank:17
Biomedical rank:9
Chemical rank:20
Civil rank: NR
Computer rank:16
Environmental rank:16
Materials rank:NR
Mechanical rank:NR

NU probabably has better reputation in engineering but the difference is not significant. You do have a tough decision to make.

Any financial considerations? That and weather may be your determinants.

NU is pretty pre-professional, so since you're pre-med, NU may be the better choice. Also, if you ever want to major in something outside of engineering, the fact that NU has strengths in a diverse number of areas (such as economics, chemistry/materials science, and journalism) may be beneficial in the future as well.
