hospital internships

I noticed on Field study, Academic options, Academics, Freshman, Office of Undergraduate Admission - Northwestern University
that they didn't mention any internships in medicine or at hospitals. Where can we get one during the school year if we're going pre med?

thanks so much!! I tried looking for this kind of site before but didn't succeed.

Does anyone know how far the Northwestern Memorial Hospital is from the main campus? It's in Chicago and not very close. How tedious would transportation be?

A couple of random rankings I found...

African History 1
Speech-Language Pathology 2

African History - History - Graduate Schools - Education - US News and World Report

several of the links of the OP are now broken.

also,

"While graduate ranking may not necessarily reflect the quality of undergrad program"

--are the rankings in the Op for grad and not for UG?

I was wondering how NU is ranked for UG in computer engineering?

Department rankings are almost always graduate rankings. Sometime you hear about "undergrad rankings" but they are mostly "reputation rankings" which are essentially graduate rankings; faculty/research/PhD programs bring reputation, not undergrad in most fields (exceptions: certain trades such as accounting, fashion design...or business week ranking that actually uses undergrad data such as SAT score, starting salary..etc).

I was going to make a post today on why NU does not have (an ABET accredited) compsci program, but I notice that the rankings shown in this thread that there IS in fact a comp sci program (ranked 39th).

So I will point this out and still ask the question, why isnt there an ABET accredited compsci program at NU?

Accredited Programs Search

by comparison , here is the ABET accreditation of NU fellow big10 peer school in ENG, UIUC. Note that there is a compsci accreditation at UIUC. Maybe this might be a clue on why UIUC is ranked 3rd in comp eng? I do not know what its rank is in compsci, however.

Because we don't? Because we have a Computer Engineering program that is much bigger, and there simply isn't as much focus on Computer Science? Why does this matter?

It matters in the review of and comparison of schools that offer science and engineering pgms. It might matter in case a student wants to emphasize computer science, the software side of things, vs the hardware side of things in computer studies.

But this thread confirms that there IS a compsci pgm at NU, ranked 39th or something. I am just learning about this whole field and its many nuances. One thing I have discovered is this ABET accreditation. Apparently, it is some kind of organization that sets standards of breadth and depth of schools' offerings in STEM subjects.

It provides yet another measure of ...quality, distinction.. a means to compare schools on a given subject matter, in this case, STEM.
