Target

OK. Really stupid question: is northwestern a "target" school?

What is a target school anyway?

The only thing I found on "target" schools is this webpage:
EL Acquisition and Development Pilot Program (CA Dept of Education)

It says that target schools are "those schools that are being targeted for support or expansion of a promising practice currently in place at the eligible school." This is off of a state of California website, so I don't know whether or not this program only applies to CA schools.

target schools are those that are recruited for investment banking, and to answer your question, NU is a very strong target for Chicago firms and a medium target for NYC firms

Haha thanks for the responses.

Is that "target" title only for investment banking? I thought it maybe it could apply to other types of firms as well.

Each investment bank has their own list of target schools, and the lists do vary some by firm and also by year, to some extent reflecting whether or not a particular school has alumni in senior management at a firm. NU is a target school at my IB employer.
