Meal Plan Q

Help! I'm a clueless mother, and I found a thread previously (maybe a few minutes ago?) about meal plans, and now I can't find it--but I did have questions. My son is a local, though it looks like he is going to be living in some dorm--and he will probably need a meal plan. But since he is a native New Yorker, I want the lowest cost one available. I thought that was 10 meals per week, which would cost about $3500 per year (ugh). But--what's a flex plan? I doubt he'll need it. He would forgo the meal plan entirely if he could, as he is quite used to eating in NYC on a budget! And there's always coming home, which is perhaps a five minute walk!

So--can anyone enlighten me? What is the flex plan? And, um, what are declining dollars?

Thanks.

Meal Plan Q

Thanks! And is it me, or has the cost of the minimal meal plan gone down a bit this year? I thought it was about 3500 last year; this year the projected cost (according to NYU's updated website) is 3310.

It's not much. Especially since the housing cost, as predicted, did go up some....

not much, but def. something.
For your son, i would go with the 10 meals/wk. or the lowest flex plan.
