Alcohol Edu

I was looking at the parents' calendar and it said that on some date when the health forms are due, an alcohol edu thing is also due. I was confused, because I don't remember receiving anything that said I had to complete that(although I've heard a lot of my friends talk about it). Am I missing something?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just get paranoid about things getting lost in the mail.

I haven't even gotten my health forms in the mail yet. I don't know what's going on.

I haven't followed my son's forms terribly closely. He had a health form that's still lying around the house and a requirement that a doctor send in a meningitis shot record, which he just took care of.

I'm pretty sure he told me he had to sign a statement for the Tisch School to the effect that if alcohol or drugs became such an issue that he couldn't benefit from his studies, Tisch would ask him to leave. At least that's how he described it. He said he's signed it and sent it on. Sounded fine to me. You might want to check with the admissions office or the health office on what your particular school requires.

I just checked with my son. He did return the Tisch thing, apparently it required counseling first, but essentially dismissal if addictive behavior became unmanageable.

He also said he completed a required alcohol education program on line through the wellness center. He thought this was an NYU-wide requirement. That might be what you remember reading about. You might want to check that out at 212-443-9999 or email wellness.exchange@nyu.edu

It's an NYU-wide requirement, which you can access through NYUHome (under NYULife, I think, but it's at the top of one of the pages, under "Alcohol Wellness Exchange" or something like that). It's just this short thing you have to go through, basically tells you to be cautious with alcohol, and clicking "submit" at the end lets them know that you've completed it (you don't have to print out the confirmation and send it to them like it said on the forms).
