Just got in off the NYU waitlist

I'm thrilled. But, am I going to be stuck in a lousy dorm? I have no idea how the housing process works.

No one does.

But it's NYC (which is why you applied) and you'll enjoy it. Our D is in Chinatown (and has found some really cheap but good noodle shops) and jogs daily on the Brooklyn Bridge - and she has a metro pass and tools all over town.

I was just worried that being "late to the party" I might have missed some housing deadlines and get stuck with the worst dorm.

You still have a few days to apply for explorations. I don't know if they take the fact that you enroll after the 1st into account. If they don't, then you can probably get yourself into a freshman dorm if you apply for several of them. You might get in regardless, since the people who got stuck in upperclass dorms last year were part of an expanded freshman class.
