Questions about Steinhardt?

Hello all,
I was doing some research about the BoCo audition process and came across this whole message board. I am a graduate of the MT Steinhardt program, so if you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them! Either post here, or PM me!

Good luck to everyone with college admissions! I know it's stressful!!

Hi CCDsinger,
My son was accepted to Steinhardt. He applied to major in both MT and Classical; they said he might be able to do both but "we'll discuss it later". Do you know how many are accepted into each program? Are you aware of anyone doing a double major in MT and Classical? Thanks.

zedgar-I dont know anyone that double majored in classical and mt because it's not technically a double major- they're each the same major: music, but the mt or classical is the area of specialization. I'm sure they would let you take all the classical courses thought- they often encourage you to take them as electives. I'm not sure how many they're accepting to each program now.
and yes, Doug was in my graduating class. He's in the fantasticks right now and is indeed wonderful!! yay class of 05!

To CCDsinger,

Hey, I'm in India and ive been admitted into GSP in NYU... I have two questions...

1) I want to eventually do industrial design.. I know NYU doesnt offer a bachelors in this ... is it sensible to take a related course in my bachelors (Which courses in NYU are related)and then transer to somewhere like RISD for my master's
2) I heard NYU has an affiliation with some other schools around NY and courses tken in those schools count as credits. I wanted to know which schools these are especially the design schools...

Thanks a Lot

I know a lot of people for Steinhardt are recieving postcards inviting them to an accepted student day (basically saying they're in the school, but that the official letter will come in a week). Is this the case for people who auditioned for vocal performance?

D did Steinhardt MT summer program last year and knows several kids who applied. I suspect several will get accepted. The only one who has heard so far is someone doing music ed and vocal performance. No one else. So we are hoping they are just one of the last batches to go out! Good luck!!

Our D was accepted for music ed at Steinhardt. We know the strong reputation generally of the school for music, but I am not finding anything "public" specifically regarding the music ed program? Anyone have any ideas?
