Haha...well...as of right now "orientation" consists of learning the city for the most part. Earlier this week, me and a bunch of my friends went to Sweeney Todd before it closed, and we got to meet the whole cast, including Patty and Michael. The show itself was incredible.

We've (me and many other Tisch, as well as other NYU colleges) have been enjoying the free food of welcome week. We also have been finding cheap places throughout the city. My roomate is from Jersey, and has a lot of experience in the city, so he does a lot of the guiding.

Everyone here, regardless of major, is extremely welcoming, including the upperclassmen.

So far, it's the time of my life...placements are soon, and we've had a lot of basic information sessions about the program, so hopefully we'll be all set when the time comes to start class.

A random note though, there is the main building where all the tisch stuff takes place, and then you have to walk to cap, which is a bit farther away from the washington square campus. However, its not that far at all, so its not a big deal.

Also, the meal plan is incredible here, so many choices...I kinda don't know why I'm eating out all the time...

Good luck to all of you in your college search, and pm me with any questions.

Chris

Out of curiosity, what kind of questions were asked during the interview? Was it to get to know you as a person more? Or was it to get to know you as an actor more?

NYU Audition/Advice

Hi! As my senior year draws nearer and nearer, I'm really started to feel overwhelmed the college theater audition! My first choice school is NYU, ideally the CAP 21 program (but i'll take what i can get!). Anyway, I've been looking through stuff and working on some stuff this summer but I'd love hear about what those of you who got into NYU did for your auditions in terms of monologues and song. or also any songs/monologues that you feel is good audition material for girls. I would love just college audition advice in general, it's so overwhelming!! I would really appreciate any information or any advice at all. thanks so much!

2) do i have ANY shot?
3) how can i prepare?
4) know any good acting coaches that can help prepare?

How much time do you have to work with? What year are you? What (if any) theater have you done? Why the sudden interest? My d (jr in hs) is in a similar circumstance (dancer -- no time).
