Congrats Lotte, and yes, it means you WILL be admitted. Read prior posts. I understand if your father is skeptical but you need to inform him of what those who have been there, done that have told you. As well, other students have called NYU or posted questions on their own OFFICIAL forums where officials from NYU indicated that the invitation is a form of indication that good news about admissions are forthcoming. Remember what the invite says, "for oustanding students in the entering class" which doesn't make sense if you aren't in the entering class. As well, who would be invited or go to a reception for accepted students that takes place AFTER the decisions come out. It wouldn't make sense to go if denied, would it? Be assured that an letter of acceptance is in your future in less than two weeks and you'll get it prior to the event but they are letting you know of the event now so you can make plans to attend rather than you wait to find out on April 1 which is late to make travel plans for an event a week later.

If your father doubts this, go read NYU's own forums or call and ask the school what this invitation means. Enough posters who have been there, done that are informing you based on experience. Also on CC's NYU forum, other posters quote staff at NYU who have explained what the invitations mean.

If it helps I called the guy I interviewed with (he works in field studies and as a talent scout for the NYU arts programs)and he said the invitation was a nod. He called it a "Yield Event". Congrats to those who have been invited!

My son received an invitation in the mail today -- we're thrilled since we knew what it meant from reading cc for so long! It's his first acceptance -- only other MT folks can appreciate what that feels like! I'm so thankful for all the information we've received on this board over the past year, including a lead to CoachC, who is a wonderful person and resource. Good luck to everyone!

My son is still concerned about the size of the program at NYU and is waiting to hear from a couple of smaller schools, but this still feels great!!

EdmondG...congratulating you ON the forum! Wonderful news for your son and a first acceptance is very sweet. Enjoy and look forward to hearing his other outcomes and decisions.

The issue of size is one to consider and those issues arose for us as well. Just to let your son know that the class sizes in studio are somewhere between 15-20. Just giving that information in case he is not aware of that.

Best wishes, Susan

Thanks!!! It's such an unbelievable feeling! Susan, I didn't know that about the studio class sizes -- that's very good to know, and I'll definitely pass it along to my son.

bway -- congratulations!!! See you there!!

bway06....I'm gonna say it ON the forum..I'm SO happy for you! The wait was worth it. My very best wishes. Exciting times are ahead.

EdmondsG...if you, or any other poster as well, have questions, I MAY be able to answer them given I'm a parent of a current student. I may not know the answer but give it a whirl if something like that comes up.

For the people who got the invite... what were ure first and second choices for Studios? (I am guessing most are CAP for #1 becuase this is an MT page...)

Mine were:
1) CAP
2) Adler/Atlantic

Yay. So this means I at least got in one audition school which is the first good news I have had from colleges in a long time. Please be right! I wonder which studio. I said I was interested in Atlantic, Meisner and Adler. I will definately go if I get in Atlantic and will go to the others if I don't get in Vassar.

Let me apologize for not looking at dates when I made my post in last years thread... for those of you who haven't read it this might not make sense...

From reading all this it seems weird that I got invited even though I was accpeted Early Decsion. There is no doubt I am going and I have already given them a substantial amount of money.

Is this indeed weird?

PRFRMR20, S's studio choices were CAP21 then Playwrights Horizon, although he really, really wants CAP.

LotteLenya, my S is waiting on Northwestern, also. You didn't do their summer program, did you?
