Totally Ignorant!

I am so blown away by the complexity of these posts. I have a VERY general question for anyone who can answer it. I am a senior in high school this year but did NOT apply to Tisch. I did however apply to NYU's CAS and was deferred to their GSP. I LOVE musical theater and have participated in our rather large high school productions for the past 4 years. I would love to look into pursuing acting more seriously- especially musical theater but I have no idea where to begin. If I did decide to attend NYU, would it be realistic to try and transferr to Tisch as a sophomore. And what kind of training or preparation would I need to even have a chance in this amazing school?

its realistic as in, im sure you could try! and im sure its been done before. not to say that it will be easy, and you might have to stay an extra semester to fulfill the requirements. if you are going to be in nyc already.. hook yourself up with voice, dance, and acting lessons... and if you really want this, then go for it the next year.. the officials at nyu will help you out with the details. but remember that there are so many famous actors who have degrees in biology, psychology, english.. etc.. and haven't studied acting.

you would DEFINITELY need to talk to your counselor as soon as you got to the school. its certainly worth a try, but you need to make sure they know of your intentions because youll have to get like a special waiver to leave gsp after freshman year probably. (anyone who goes from gsp to tisch leaves after one year though, i know this much)

and im sure youve already thought about this, but make sure to be as active in extra curricular theater related things your freshman year as possible. that will really show them your dedication, and will help.

good luck!
