Urinetown

rossji-

I won't be much help to you -

but I have 2 tickets for Saturday October 28th - EVENING performance - that I cannot use. (WE cannot make it to NYC from OR - and our daughter is not in the show - didn't try out....)

Any takers?

Thanks!

Hi Jane! Wish I could help you out. The reason I wanted to trade for Friday is that's the only day my daughter doesn't work; she works 12-8 on Sat. and 12-6 on Sunday and I wanted her to see it with me. (I originally got the Sat matinee because of my parents) I'm sure you'll be able to get rid of them - I would think Sat night tix are more of a premium than the matinee! Good luck!

OK - now I exchanged my 5 tix for Friday night (Urinetown at CAP21); I still have 3 available for anyone who wants to buy them. I will be there around 7:30 Friday night if anyone needs tickets; I know it's sold out Friday night. If you're interested, please let me know or PM me. Thx!

Just atttended the Tisch Salute on Sat for NYU 2008 grads. If any of your sons or daughters were in the CAP 21 performance (or the performance at the NYU graduation last Wed), just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the performance(s).

Jasmom,

I was there as well and have to agree that the performances were amazing! These past four years have just flown by, I can't believe the kids are done. The funny thing is I bumped into a young man we had met at the auditions. He was so nervous at the time. Fast forward four years and the same young man graduated with all sorts of honors and now has such an air of confidence. It was refreshing to see. (And the sweet thing is he remembered us, too!)

Jasmom and klri,

Congratulations to your children on their Tisch graduation! Wowee!

I wasn't there but my D was at the graduation at Yankee Stadium and the Tisch ceremonies at Madison Square Garden.

Next year, that will be us.

Best wishes.

Jasmom,

I was there, also. We really enjoyed the graduation ceremony. Cap21 did a fabulous number and I have to say I was totally amazed with the opening dance number by Tisch Dance. We truly enjoyed the entire ceremony. I also had a great treat as we happened to be sitting one row behind my daughter about 15 seats down (it just happened that way). We brought her 89-year-old grandma all of the way from Illinois, so it was a very special weekend. We even had another fabulous stay at the Hotel Giraffe, our third time for this particular hotel, and we love it there.

I can't say enough about the wonderful graduation ceremony. Amy Heckerling was an awesome speaker. After a cross-country trip (of course inspired by Jack Keourac) with NYU friends from Strasberg Studio, my daughter will be back in NYC and begin auditioning. She is sooo excited.

How about your son (I hope I am remembering correctly that you had a son at Tisch, it's been a long time since I have posted). Is he staying in NYC or is it another theatre city for him? Possibly he has already started the auditioning process and landed an acting role? Hope you enjoyed your wonderful weekend of celebration. Congratulations to both you and your son.

This brings such smiles that our "kids" have finished (or soon will). And I've been so impressed with the delightful friends that my son has made along the way. What an amazing 4 years. My s has been busy finishing up a heavy academic semester after a semester in China, as he had some courses to complete for his Art History minor. Today he's moving to a bigger (and cheaper) apt in Brooklyn, but is definitely sticking in the city. He has a couple of dance performances in the next month (a real victory for him since it's straight dance), but is itching to audition for things where he doesn't have to say "I'm only available 'till Sept." Congrats to you and your d, theatredivasmom (and you and yours as well, kira). Maybe they'll bump into each other at some terrific auditions for great paying roles!

Jasmom, my D has leased an apt. in Brooklyn too.

Your son's chance has come....he has worked hard for this. Same with the other sons/daughters represented on this thread who just graduated!

Let us know what develops!

Soozievt and Jasmom-

My D and her roommate are beginning to look for a new apartment in Brooklyn, too!!! We agreed to finish out paying the rent on her apartment in the East Village to the end of the lease, July 31st. It truly was in a phenomenal neighborhood, really close to her studio, but unfortunately will now be way to rich for her blood. As they embark on their new career they are looking for something less than the $3400 a month that their adorable two-bedroom apartment costs. It will be so hard for our D to leave Manhattan, as she has lived there for all four years, except while she was studying in Buenos Aires her second semester junior year. I am just hopeful she will be able to find a decent place in Brooklyn. They are starting to look today, for a week or two, before they leave on their cross-country road trip. They'll keep looking when they get back until they find something.

I wish Kiri and Jasmom's children all the best. With the stellar education they have received, their dreams will surely be achieved.

Theatredivasmom,

Thanks so much. It has been quite an education inside and out of the classroom. Your daughter was so lucky to have an apartment in the East Village what an exciting place! And it seems that all the kids were lucky enough to travel. (My own daughter did a non NYU conservatory in Asia last summer and was enthralled with the culture and their deep commitment to the arts.)
I am sure your daughter will fall in love with Brooklyn. The majority of my daughter's friends have moved there and from what I understand they are enjoying a thriving social scene. I have seen so many specials on TV that Brooklyn is the "hip" place to be.
Jasmom and Theatredivamom, please extend to your children my wishes for much success! They have the foundation and are in the right place for many great things to happen.

From a parent whose child is about to embark on the Tisch (CAP21)adventure, congratulations to all of you whose S/D's are graduating this year. It is so great to see you here on this board! My D is so excited, and can hardly wait (she has begun to set aside "dorm stuff" in her room).

I have said it before, for whatever reason, going to Tisch, sets off some very strong reaction in people, positive, but certainly negative as well. D feels deep down that this is where she needs to be, her new home, but as a parent it just feels reassuring to read how great your child's experience has been!

Again, congrats!

MTgrlsmom, it is always important to remember whether the negative reactions by naysayers are from those who attend or are from those on the outside. I personally care more about reactions from those who attend or the parents of those who attend than those who comment from afar. My D is very glad to not have put much stock into negative comments from those who had them at OTHER SCHOOLS about Tisch. After three years, she couldn't be happier with the experiences she has had at NYU/Tisch and it is all she could have wished it would be and more. Having just ended her junior year, she has stated that the year was better than she ever could have imagined. I hope that is the case for your D as well.

Dear Tisch Moms, Congratulations to all of you who recently had children graduate. It's a big theater world out there, and it is one heck of a ride. Just go along with it and try to support and enjoy! From one Tisch Grads mom to another! Camge
