| I finally called somebody who would tell me studio assignment (my letter has still not arrived). I was placed in Adler. Woo-hoo!
For reference, the number I called that finally gave me information was 212-998-1850. |

| Mackie, I hope you can find a way to talk to current students in ETW. My daughter has several friends in ETW. In fact, she'd love to go to ETW (she is in CAP21) as you can switch studios after two years, but she doesn't want to give up CAP21 to do ETW, as much as she'd enjoy ETW. She is taking a class this semester with a faculty person from ETW and really likes it very much. Right now, it is simply an unknown for you, but it is considered an amazing studio as far as experiences go.
Congrats to all of you on your acceptances and studios. For those who got Adler, from what my D says, as well as her Adler friends, it is an excellent studio for the study of acting. |

| Alright so maybe I'm an idiot or maybe this is a legit question, I'm not sure.
I've just had my first choice studio (Adler) come through for me. However, I am also a really big lover of musical theatre and even was offered CAP 21, but am going to stick with straight acting, because I really want a strong collegiate-level foundation there first, before I start adding music and dance.
After two years, I've heard that it is possible to switch studios. Can I go from Adler to CAP in my junior year? Does it require an audition, since I am going into a program that requires other skills, or since I've already auditioned for them, will I automatically be allowed to switch? For me, changing at junior may be the absolute ideal, getting both worlds. Thanks for your help everyone! |

| So I just got my studio assignment and I got into Playwright's, which was my second choice. My first was CAP. Now, I really like NYU and Playwright's but I don't want to lose the vocal training that I've gotten thus far. Does anyone know of any possibilities for me? I don't really mind the lack of dance training but I would really miss the music. I was, after all, a singer first, actor second. Any suggestions?

| Malia, you can switch studios after two years but in order to do so (and this regards all studios, not just CAP21), you must audition to get into that studio. That said, it is pretty difficult, but not impossible to transfer into CAP21, from what I understand. If you switch into CAP21 by audition after two years, you join the second year Cappies for two years (thus completing the second and third year CAP21 curriculum). My D just informed me this week of a few very good friends from other studios who just got into CAP21 for their junior year. Mind you, these people have MT backgrounds and are in musicals at Tisch even in their other studios.
Danimal....only you can decide which path...Playwrights or one of your other BFA in MT options. Clearly examine the Playwrights curriculum. I thought I had seen it online in the past. Also, Jasmom's son is in that studio and he comes from a MT background and is talented in MT and has been doing musicals at Tisch (and in summer stock). In fact, my D has many pals in PH who come from MT backgrounds. Be aware that there are many MT talented/trained actors in other studios. These students can be in the musicals at Tisch and many, many are. I know kids from other studios who have played leads in Tisch musicals, in fact. I believe you also can take private voice (Jasmom's S does). I also think PH has some singing and dance in their curriculum as they do a bit of everything. Also, a good friend of my D's who has been in Playwrights and is a junior, did a special semester of a MT Workshop that Playwrights offers. So, do look into that semester-long option as well to do MT.
Hope that helps. |

| dan...,
sign up for private voice, through Tisch. It's a 2 hr. course. That'll give you 18 credit hours (no extra cost). Also, go to www.phtschool.org, click on Curriculum. For the actual schedules, you'll have to look under Students and then each day's schedule (or, of course, you could ask a playwrights student, but they're notoriously busy). Good luck and have fun!
Oh, and thanks, sooz, we cross-posted. |

| Jasmom and Soozie,
Thank you both very much. Your comments were very helpful. Jasmom, if your son has anytime available I'd love to get his email. Anyway, thanks again. Thank goodness for the people of this board.

| Check out Facebook for TISCH and CAP21 FYI There are already "11" kids hooking up on Facebook for Tisch and CAP21. Start another studio site on facebook, if there's not one already there. God Bless you all |
