Tisch waiting list

My daughter was put on the waiting list for Tisch. Does anyone have any experience with this? She's into Syracuse BFA Acting and loves that program, but NYU has always been her dream school. Do people ever make it off the waiting list? Thanks!

My daughter's friend was waitlisted for Tisch 2 years ago and did finally get accepted around June 1st! She had already picked another school and decided to stick with that choice and is very happy there. But it can happen and hopefully will happen for your daughter! Good Luck!

waiting list

Thanks -- most of the "wait list" stories I've heard so far haven't had positive outcomes. My daughter is writing a letter affirming her interest in the program and her guidance counselor is going to call them. We hope that will help a bit.

Can anyone tell me when you are redirected to acting at Tisch instead of CAP21 what this really means. Can you still take a voice and dance class and have time to audition for musicals. As I remember from the audition, the faculty said a lot of plays are running.

I suspect that no studio compares to CAP in the amount/intensity of voice and dance.
Look carefully at the curriculum of the studio to figure out whether/how much voice and dance are included in the studio time. Also, there's a difference between whether all dance skill levels take the same class vs. multiple dance levels offerred.
That being said, private voice (2 hr. credit) can be taken as an elective either from Steinhardt or Tisch. And dance classes par excellence are available throughout the city at a minimal fee.
My s has remained very active in MT, and his studio (Playwrights) has provided him with excellent training in areas that will enhance his flexibility and durability as a theater artist. He has been very happy with the match.
All mainstage productions audititon students from all studios. In addition, there are more than one-hundred plays happening annually. I'd encourage you s or d to speak directly to students/faculty of studio to determine fit.
