Tisch Transfer Question

If you transfer into Tisch (CAP21) as a sophmore, do you start over as a freshman? I asked my friend who is in Playwright's Horizon, and he said that a person starts as a freshman in their STUDIO classes, but still graduates on time with their NYU class. Thus, you have one year less of studio training than the average NYU MT graduate. Is this right? Please only respond if you know the answer, I don't want speculation.

Thanks

If you want a firm answer, why don't you call the school and get the answer straight from the horse's mouth?

I agree that if you want a firm answer, you should call the school directly. However, since I do know kids who have transferred into Tisch, they do start the studio as freshmen in the studio track but still graduate college in their own year, like your friend said. They are sophomores at NYU, however.

You then went onto say that you would have one year less of studio training than the others in that studio. That is not necessarily so. For instance, CAP21 is a 3 1/2 year studio. There are three years of training and then a showcase semester in senior year. So, if you were to transfer into CAP as a sophomore, you would do the three years of training but not the showcase semester. That is what I think is the case there. I'm not sure why you would imagine getting four years of training when you only have three years left of college (unless you mean a college that would make you start entirely over and not count any credits from your prior college). At CAP, you would get the entire three years of training, but just not do the showcase semester which is actually optional anyway even for those who are there for four years.

Please call directly since I don't want to be responsbile for this information. This is my understanding of it based on my daughter having friends who have transferred into Tisch. It is not speculation, but it is not from the horse's mouth either!
