| Saturday in the Square NYU Tisch Do they still do that event for all of those accepted students for Tisch?
If so, I guess we can hope to get invitations in a few weeks for that if we are accepted.
I know a lot of people got those before the acceptances, called, and were told they got in. |

| tom<3avenueq - I do know that the Saturday In the Square invite in the past has not gone out to all those who have been accepted for Tisch. For example, none of the ED students will receive such an invite, and also only a small group of RD admitted students typically gets invited. I have been wondering the same thing however, especially if anything is different this year since Washington Square is "under construction".
Soozie, or any other NYU mom, any idea? |

| While I have no inside information, I feel certain NYU/Tisch will continue with the Saturday in the Square invitations to selected accepted students. This is an open house event that takes place in early April. Yes, these invitations come out before the official acceptances come out. If you get an invitation, you will be accepted on April 1. If you don't get an invitation, you could still be accepted. I don't think any construction in Washington Square has any impact on this event. The event was not LITERALLY in the square. Some of it was at Skirball and some at Tisch and so on. I would imagine the invitations might be forthcoming around next week, based on years past. |

| Saturday in the Square invitations are for some selected accepted students to ALL of Tisch.....not just Tisch Drama....but also Film, Dance, Recorded Music, Dramatic Writing and so on. To be clear, this includes the BFA for Drama and also CAP students.
When you get accepted to Tisch/NYU......you are not assigned a studio. A letter telling you which studio you are placed in comes about a week after the OFFICIAL acceptance (the official acceptance is about April 1 or the week before and the studio placement is about a week after that). Nobody is getting to find out which studio they are placed in NOW. However, if at your audition, you specified, for example, that you would only accept CAP21 studio and would not consider another studio, then if you are accepted, you got that studio. If you gave a second or third choice studio (which actually increases your odds of acceptance), you don't know which studio you got until the studio placement letter comes AFTER the official acceptance arrives, which BOTH notifications are AFTER the invitation to Saturday in the Square.
If you receive an invitation to Saturday in the Square (which seem to be going out now) , that means you are accepted to Tisch Drama. You won't know your studio for a while, unless you had said "CAP only." But those who do get into CAP21 could be invited to Saturday in the Square (example, my D was invited to it and eventually was placed in CAP21, which was a notification that came later).
Hope that clarifies. |

| Congrats to all of you!
Thank you soozievt for the insight. Do you know if anyone has gotten an actual acceptance letter yet vs an invite? I don't suppose there's any way to know the number of invites vs. the number of acceptances or how they invite some and not others?
Sorry for the run on questions! Though it's thrilling to hear about the acceptances coming out now, it's getting harder for my D to wait and wonder. A few of her friends have gotten into CMU and CAP21 and I could tell she was a little broken when she got home from rehearsal tonight. NYU was what she felt was her best audition and the doubt is slowly creeping in. |

| Sarasmom, no actual official acceptance packages have been mailed. That will happen in a couple of weeks. I don't think that Tisch or NYU has ever revealed the actual percentage of accepted students who receive an invitation to the SIS events. In the past, they have indicated that the first invitations go out to the top applicants, in an effort to 'convince' them to attend NYU. Don't give up hope yet! As I posted in another thread, many more kids receive acceptances than the number who receive these invitations. Keeping good thoughts for your D and the others who will hear sometime around April 1. |

| Saras mom we are also waiting to hear from NYU (and a few others). My D is for acting only, had a great audition, felt good about it and the auditioner spent a lot of time with her. In fact after she left the audition, she realized that they had discussed the experimental theater quite a bit and now she could see herself there, among other places in and out of NYU.
Hang in there, you are not alone! |
