Acceptances

It seems like many people have gotten their acceptances this week! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Does anyone know if one didn't get a letter this week, it means they are out of the running?

No epo9, not at all! Those who heard are only a 'select few' who were invited to Saturday In the Square .

Oh okay, well thats a relief. May I ask, what is Saturday in the Square, and what criteria was used for the selected students that were invited? Thanks MTgrlsmom

I haven't heard anything either. So, hopefully we're both still in the running.

There is actually a ton written about Saturday In The Square somewhere on one of these threads ; in fact, it has its own thread below this one , but it basically is a get together for accepted RD students and their parents in April with info sessions and what not, to ultimately convince them to enroll at NYU (if they are not sure yet that NYU is their first choice).

There is actually not much in writing about the criteria, although some have said NYU invites a number from the top 10% of applicants for each school (Tisch, Stern, CAS etc.) based on GPA, whereas I do for a fact know that that cannot be the case as I know some applicants with high GPA's and test scores last year that were not invited, and yet others with lower GPA's were). I personally think that NYU uses multiple factors, indeed GPA/test scores, but also in conjunction with an applicant's essays, extra curricular activities and leadership history for example.

Also, ED applicants are not invited, and I am pretty sure that some of those applicants are among the "top 10% of the incoming class" with high academic achievement, but who simply consider NYU their first choice.

Hope this helps a bit .

It was an acceptance letter. She didn't get an invitation to the event.

You could not have received a rejection from NYU/Tisch yet. The admissions decisions (acceptances and rejections) have not gone out yet. So far, SOME who are accepted (but not all who will be accepted) have received an invitation for an open house event for accepted students in April on campus (and some apparently got invitations to locally hosted events for admitted students that are not just for Tisch).

So, nobody has heard and not gotten into Tisch yet (I assume you are askeing about Tisch as this is an NYU/Tisch forum, particularly geared toward Tisch DRAMA). And no, if you still have not heard, it does not mean you did not get in as only some accepted students got the invitation but NOBODY has received official decisions yet and you can be accepted but yet not invited to the open house event.

I have not asked this before and it is probably a little late now for the info but here goes: Can anyone give me the scoop on transfer admissions to Tisch? I naively believed that transferring as a freshman into another University program would be a little easier than competing with all the graduating seniors. That is how it worked when I went to college 30 something years ago. Silly me to think that times have not changed! We did ask the question at MMC when my D auditioned and we were told that MMC is "transfer friendly" and that many students in their program transfer in as it is so expensive and they find it more economical to get the initial year core classes out of the way at a less expensive college. THEN we receive a rejection letter that asks us not to be disappointed because this year's auditionees were the largest and most talented group ever. Oh and by the way, it said, last year we only took 11 transfer students and will probably take fewer this year. Can we expect the same from Tisch? What is the story with that?

blank slate, I don't have any idea how many auditioned as transfers to Tisch drama this year but they are accepting 25 transfers, according to Dean Campbell. This would be the total, for all studios, and would include those who are accepted as internal transfers from other NYU colleges. I think, generally speaking, transfer admission tends to be more difficult.
