We are, of course, too late to stay at the Oberlin Inn. Where to you recommed we look for accommodations between Cleveland and Oberlin? I think the B&Bs are booked also.

There are some hotels in Elyria (not so great, but close); there are also some large hotels near the airport, which is not too far away.

Try for the B&Bs, if you can. Oberlin (the town) has some lovely homes, and the feel of the town will add a lot to your trip.

We have stayed several times at the Best Western in Elyria. We were just there and the cost was $50.00 / night for a room with 2 queen beds. It is close to the mall so there are lots of chain restaurants at which to eat. It is about a 20 minute drive from the hotel to Oberlin. The hotel was clean and quiet.

For breakfast or lunch, try Black River Cafe -- the service is slow but the food is excellent and the coffee was the best around. The Feve is also a good, inexpensive place. Gibson's is known for its whole-wheat donuts.

We've stayed in the Raddison, which is midway between the college and the airport, and it was lovely and fairly inexpensive on hotels.com

Thanks for all your replies. D likes the "Elyria by the mall" idea. She is so excited to visit Oberlin. I visited with DS in 2005 (a double degree admit who matriculated elsewhere) and we loved so many things about this school. I can't wait for her to see the library and the AJLC. I will make reservations, now!

If you haven't reserved yet, we have stayed at the Candlewood Suites in North Olmstead when we dropped my daughter off to move in this summer. It was nice, clean, very close to the mall, Target, Wal Mart, and a ton of eating places. When we went for parent's weekend, we stayed at the Country Inn and Suites in Elyria. Again, a nice enough place. We had a suite and then an adjoining room, so we opened up the doors and had a huge area. There is a mall here too, and eating places, didn't seem like as big a selection as North Olmstead, but it seemed to be a little closer to campus. Either way, unless you stay at the Oberlin Inn or B&B's in the area, you'll have to travel about 15-20 minutes to get to Elyria or North Olmstead.

Shurtleff cottage is an excellent B&B within walking distance of campus. I found the Oberlin Inn to be disapointing.

I'm pretty sure all the accomodations in Oberlin are booked up by now.

We cancelled for the 16th at the Hallauer House (on the Oberlin site's list of accommodations). Let me know if you call them, because then we'll get a refund!
