I applied to Ohio State back in the end of October, 2010 as a journalism major and have just heard back from them now with my application status listed as "deferred" or as OSU puts it, "After an initial review of your application, your application has been submitted for a second review and you will be notified by the end of March with a final decision.". I am wondering what my chances are at being admitted and I'm really nervous and anxious as to what their response will be. They said they will let me know no later than March 31, 2011.
I am a first generation college student and am also half Mexican, but I look more Mexican than I do the other half of me, which is white...so basically I bring diversity to the table. I am a student who is highly involved (I was voted 'Most Involved' in my senior class) and I hold many leadership positions in the clubs and organizations I am involved with. I am also involved in community service, nothing extensive but nonetheless I am involved in some. My current cumulative GPA, with my senior first semester included, is a 3.83/4.0 scale. I am ranked number 24 in my senior class out of 150. My only downfall is the darn ACT, on which my highest score was a 21. I just don't do well on that test and I've taken it a total of 3 times. I assume that's what's keeping me from being admitted is my low ACT score. Also, I take college courses via Post Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEOP) and I do well in the classes I take at the university as well.
I just want to know if anyone else is in or was in my same situation with Ohio State or another university comparable to that of OSU. Any help/response is greatly appreciated! Also, please not that I am a US citizen. Born and raised in Ohio.
