My D is a returning sophomore MT major. She elected to purchase the computer package, although she already has a Dell laptop. Now she will have two. I will let her or OCUMTINFO tell you about auditions. They know much more about that than I do. I do know auditions start the first day of classes, and your D will be able to sign up for a time. She also will have choir auditions right away for placement in one of the choirs. She will be so busy the first few weeks, she won't have time to be homesick. My D is the oldest and the first to leave home, but after three very positive visits to OCU, I felt very comfortable with her choice of schools. She loves it there.
Jordansmom and Musicmom, HI!
My son will be a MT freshman at OCU. It is my understanding that all MT majors are required to have the Apple, and we found the package the school offered to be the best deal so we got it. I know my son has several questions about the audition process, maybe he could hook up the musicmom's D via the internet? He's our first to go away to college and I have some real dumb questions that I'm too embarassed to ask, help?
Rusty
P.S.
I'd love to meet some of the CCer's at orientation.
My d is a dance management major and also just received her roommate assignment by e-mail. She is living in Banning with a theater performance major from Nebraska. They've had fun "talking" through the internet. My d is our last one too...I know how you feel. I will be at orientation from Sunday...leaving on Wednesday.
We didn't really see a downside to signing the fixed tuition. After having two other children go through college, we never saw tuition go down..only up. Since many of the scholarships are also fixed...academic and talent...it made sense to us.
Because my d is a dance management major (basically a dance performance/entertainment business double major) they recommended a pc environment. The Macbook package...I think....is just for Wanda Bass School of Music. We bought a laptop...and a lock! Four girls share one bathroom..and you just can't be too careful.
Dance leveling is on Wednesday. I obviously don't know any more than that.
Jordansmom, hi! We went to the Macintosh website & bought a bit more memory and did not buy some of the optional stuff (case, etc, which we already had). We've been a PC family until now.
Re fixed tuition - we signed up, and our bill went up! somehow I missed that in the fine print...
Have Kara look up Mary-E (frosh MT). She and a 'regular' music major from Georgia will be in Banning 309. me personal e is sdimon@alltel.net.
cheers!
Sandy
I think it would be great....I've talked to a couple of cc'ers. Because my D is in Honors, we will get there on Sunday....I'll be leaving Wednesday Morning. Everyone, whatever major, has some kind of orientation on Tuesday...
Let me know if there is interest. And we can exchange e-mail/cell phones. You all have been such a great source of information and support... and I thank you again!
