2DsnMT, thanks so much for clarifying and for offering to post updates...and congrats to your D for being chosen!

It does make me feel bad for those not chosen, though. That must have been a tough rejection (because some of it was based on 'marketability'...I would feel pretty crushed after 4 years of hard work...and then being told I was not as 'marketable' as someone else...but that's the nature of this business!!!)

TXKatsmom,
I agree it is a tough business. Those not chosen to participate in the Showcase have to remember that the decision was made by just 4 people....based on one audition.....and not a comment on their overall future. Easier said than done, I know. I feel for them, too.

2DsnMT,

What is your daughter doing until the showcase? S has only 1 more year and the anxiety of waiting two weeks after graduation to do a showcase hoping for a job is scarey. I know this year S's summerstock job starts May 30th.

We too really enjoyed ALNM - I went both Friday and Saturday night - sat on different sides each time and found something different each time. It was a superb cast. I have to laugh though S always seems to be dropping his pants on stage.

Clueless,
My D is at home now....attending auditions, auditions, auditions....VERY expensive endeavor traveling to auditions. She has had to turn down 4 offers due to conflicts with the showcase but she feels like the showcase is a one time offering; hopefully offers to perform will continue after the showcase. She currently is scheduled to play Annabel? in Lucky Stiff at an equity theater in June....so that one has worked out.
The showcase kids have to be in NY for 5 days prior to the showing for rehearsals. They also have rehearsals scheduled every couple of weeks in OKC....it is quite an undertaking and scheduling nightmare since she no longer lives in OKC.
Ah, yes, he did have to drop his pants....uncomfortable? My D was the youngest, newest member of the "chicken ranch" in Whorehouse at Lyric one year....she was stripped to her underwear on stage while they gussied her up to work....I was extremely uncomfortable with her grandfather sitting right next to me! hahaha

Hey, OCU friends. I enjoyed meeting several of you this past weekend in person and getting to see some of my old friends, too. We had fun with A Little Night Music. Very good music and funny show. Clueless, your son is certainly talented and handsome! The new music school building is wonderful! My son's friends who go to school there are very happy. Some are in MT and others in the BFA Acting program.

I also got to see some great acting by OCU students in the professional production of The Miser at the Civic Center. Also a really funny show! I think the OCU students in the show were better than some of the professionals!
