| Hi from OCU Hi Erinl:
I'm glad you're considering Oklahoma City University. In regards to our shows, as you can see, OCU has a wide variety of types of shows presented. Our MT (and VP) students go from musicals to operas and to plays on a regular basis. Our musicals are a mix of classics and new works. This year, we did "Guys and Dolls" and then in the spring move into the contemporary Broadway sound of the Oklahoma premier of "Parade". This same contrast was present last year when we did "Secret Garden" and then "Sussical". Some of our past productions have been "Bye, Bye, Birdie", "Kiss Me, Kate", "West Side Story", "Man of LaMancha", "Oklahoma", "Songs For A New World" and the Oklahoma premier of Sondheim's "Passion".
Besides these fully staged main stage productions, we have one "spotlight" musical (little set, little costume, etc). This year it is the wonderful "Lucky Stiff".
We will present out first staged scenes reading of our new "Stripped" series in November. "Stripped", as you can see, is no sets, costumes, choreography, props and such. Our first show is "Fiddler", which is appropriate as it is not only a great show, but contains the theme of "tradition". And "Stripped" will become a new OCU tradition!
As you can see, OCU offers numerous opportunities for our voice students. Besides these musical shows, you can audition for our plays. Also, our choirs have numerous appearances throughout the school year. Our new $38 millions dollar music school facility will only increase our performance spaces and opportunities. It sounds very busy and it is. If you have any questions, please feel to ask! |

| I am new here. My D is freshman BM MT at OCU.
Lexasmom, I think my D and your D are friends. Mine is Jill. She works as a tutor with Alexa from NC. She loves her! I think they have fun with each other's southern accents and pronunciations. My D was cast as Chava in the Fiddler production. I will be going up to see it. I'm sure my D also knows many of you other folks' kids. She talks about a lot of different people. Has made many friends and loves OCU. |

| ChrisR...that is the cutest post! Aw....
Break a leg to them both and congrats on the casting.
MusicMom, if it makes you feel any better, I don't see your age in the post or listed with your name on the left side of your post!
Welcome to the forum and I hope you keep sharing. |

| Arthur Bartow Anyone knows if Arthur Bartow went to Oklahoma City or Oklahoma State, or what? He is the artistic director at Tisch and was the one who auditioned my daughter for NYU. I noticed in his bio that he got a BFA/MA from Oklahoma, though. Just curious... |

| Hi, I'm new here. F-BM MT. I just thought all the parents' conversations were pretty interesting. )
rossji:
OCU does not offer a BFA as far as I know, so that guy probably didn't go here. I've never heard the name anyway. If he said "from Oklahoma," I would think he was referring to OU. |

| Fiddler I am trying to get the cast and our kids straight. So, if your (chrisr) son marries Chava, he must be Fyedka? My daughter was cast as Hodel and she told me that a CC son was cast as Perchik. We are becoming one tight family!! It is very exciting!! |

| Rard's mom,
Yep, my son is Fyedka. Is MTPop's son Perchik?
Kaed and CluelesMCs's son are both in Pirates, so neither of them is Perchik. Auditioners in November will see them in Pirates, though. |

| Rard's Mom -
Yes, my S is playing Perchik. How fun that our some of our CC family are becoming "stage in-laws!!"
We'll be going up to see Fiddler - I know musicmom1215 and chrisr are going too - anyone else??
We went up last week and saw La Sonnambula and And They Came for Me. Both were very good productions. Dr. H is a certified genius. His direction and concept for La Sonnambula was fantastic. Opera purists may take exception, but the audience loved it. The lead soprano was incredible. And They Came for Me was double cast, and we missed seeing Razorback's D. But, I heard from other students that she was great. Congrats! |

| mtpop - We couldn't make it to see La Sonnambula, and I know there were 2 leading ladies in each cast and 2 casts, but I think that incredible lead you mentioned may have been (or could have been) the daughter of one of my favorite CC friends, mentioned by me above. |

| OCU "Stripped" Hi all...
I just got a chance to check CC and was thrilled to see that we have numerous children of CC members in our cast of "Fiddler". We're in the second day of rehearsals and they sound great!
Our "Stripped" staged reading scenes from "Fiddler" will happen Saturday Nov 12th at 8PM and Sunday Nov 13th at 7PM in the Burg Theater in the music school. Admissions is free and on a first come basis. The theater only seats 180 and we will stop seating once we reach capacity. However, each cast member has received 4 "reserved seats" for each performance so we will be able to accommodate anyone who's coming from out-of-town.
If you have any additional questions, feel free to email me at strippedOCU@yahoo.com. Back to "Pirates" rehearsals! I look forward to seeing you. |

| just got back from ocu a few hours ago. went up to see d in "they came for me." it was very good and a very moving play. the kids were great and it was wonderful to visit. sorry, mtpop that you missed d, she did an excellent job. wish you could have seen her. it was a very unusual play. of course, she will be in the next one also, "kids say the darndest things." so, we'll be going back for that.
erics mom, there's a kid from north little rock in the play. he did an excellent job. we had a fun coincidence though. we are, originally from little rock and while there i saw a man in the lobby that looked just like someone i knew from little rock. turns out that the young man in the play from lr has a girlfriend from there who came up to see him, along with her parents. they were friends of ours there and my girls used to play with theirs. so my d actually knew his girlfriend well when they were 9 years old. it was really wild. i watched them for a while, then sent my oldest daughter over to ask if the girl's name was megan and discovered they were my friends from home. and, get this, they were staying in our same hotel. havent' seen them in 9 years. it was pretty neat. |
