| Looks like we will go to the June session, if we are able to work it out. My younger s plays travel baseball so it makes our summers very hectic! All of the other dates either involve missing school (d has attendance requirements) or are during the summer theater job my d has. It might be August before we get a chance to meet any of you!

| Did anyone else receive their tentative fall schedules today? My d did (it's all beginning to seem real now!) and we were just wondering if anyone else had and what your thoughts were. |

| I know nothing about OCU or musical theatre, but I grew up in OKC and hope you all have a great time there. Congratulations! |

| Fall Schedule Lexasmomkbj
S got his schedule - he talked to MM about it all this week and it seems great, though a little light considering how jammed packed his schedule is usually. He starts every day at 9 AM - he loves that- and is done every day by 3 PM except Friday he is done at 1:20, although they have TBA on his piano and voice lessons. We purchased his Tux last year so he has had plenty of wear out of it with dances, concerts etc. already. His buddies were over last night and are jealous he is so set with school. One of the guys does have a problem many kids would love to have – how to get Stanford and Harvard to cough up as much money as Princeton is offering. OCU is really impressing us. We are big organizers and planners and were very disappointed at the lack of attention to detail at a few of the schools S considered, but OCU really impresses us and that’s not easy. It just goes to show that kids end up at the schools that are right for them and S was right in selecting OCU. |

| Yes, OCU's attentativeness and organization has impressed us also from the very beginning. My d's schedule sounds similar to your s, she doesn't start class until 9 on any day, is finished at 9:50 on Fridays (of course they haven't placed her in a voice or piano class, so that could change.) My d has a choir class scheduled til 4:50 from M-Th, though, so she will be running just a little later. Is your s in the honors program? (If you don't mind my asking.) My d is and she is supposed to take an honors colloquium from 8-8:50 on Wednesdays, but mm told her she could take it either first or second semester, so we are trying to decide (and of course, my d is not impressed with being in a class at 8:00!). It looks like the second semester is a little more filled already. In fact, looks like they will have a very busy and exciting four years! Also, does anyone know if you can take any extra dance classes? My d would really like to do so, as she feels this is her weakness. Any thoughts/comments appreciated. |

| Extra dance at OCU My d is finishing her soph year at OCU in MT. She takes additional dance classes at a studio in Edmond in the evenings. I think it can be difficult to get extra dance classes at OCU...in fact, it is sometimes difficult to get the class you need because they have so many dancers on campus and dance majors tend to take precedence. My d is also in the Honors Program...and has had to juggle her schedule because of it, but so far it is working out. She took classes last summer and will do so again this summer as she is also double majoring and it seems like the best way to get some of the gen ed subjects taken care of. She loves OCU and wouldn't trade all of her experiences for anything. I hope all of your s and d will find it as welcoming and inspiring as she has. |

| OCU Dance LEXAMOMkbj,
No honors for S at this time as he will have enough getting the musical comp. major/minor as well. Plus he had heard of the 8 AM honors class from one of the guys at OCU and wasn't excited about an 8 AM class again. Dance is S's weakest link also - he will have a car there but you'd think they could get some of the advanced danced majors to hold a class for these kids - I'm sure the studio classrooms have some free time and the dancers - many of whom hope to someday have their own studio could get some real experience. We may have to suggest it - I would willingly pay a dance major to work with S and pay for studio time. We'll just have to see what we can figure out. When are you arriving at OCU? We should try and schedule a get together with the CC parents.

| S did not get a schedule yet. I am thinking maybe we didn't return a request for classes that came a couple of weeks ago?
Jenifer, I like your idea of trying to get help from dance majors. I don't know when we will arrive yet, but we definitely should get together. |

| Count my d in if we can work out anything concerning extra dance (I would be more than happy to pay). According to 2DsnMT's post, her d takes extra dance at a studio in Edmond (where is that?) but my d will not have car so perhaps some of our s's and d's can get together and work something out or maybe they can talk some of the dance majors into lessons...it's worth a try.
Clueless, we will be arriving at OCU on the 14th (move in day for honors students) but we will probably hang around for a couple of days just to make sure D has everything she needs (since we live so far away). May even take in a a baseball game (they have a minor league team in town and that is my s's thing. I think we CC parents should all designate a time/date to meet.
Chrisr,
I don't think we sent in anything. Mary Mowry just filled it out and sent it to us so yours is probably on the way. We just got ours yesterday.
Excited to meet you all!

| 2DsnMT,
I forgot to thank you for the info. I appreciate hearing that the honors thing is working out. I was a little concerned knowing that MT takes up a lot of time, but I also want my d to be academically challenged. I am also glad to hear how much your d loves OCU. I know my d will, too. |

| hi guys!
i visited OCU a few weekends ago and absolutely loved it! I was just wondering if you had any information on the MT program or the school in general you would like to share. What made you choose it? What did you audition with? What made it stand out from the others? pros? cons?
thanks so much

| caitlyn,
My d can probably answer your questions better than I can. All I can tell you is that prior her audition, we had never even been to Oklahoma. We got a great deal of information about OCU's MT program from going back to the very beginning of the MT thread (from 2003) and reading all of the posts. The fact that it is a Bachelor of Music in MT really appealed to my d and that they focus on classical voice training. Also, their program seemed to be really strong in preparing the "triple threat" and has a very good reputation for MT with many working alumni. If you would like to ask my d some specific questions, I am sure she wouldn't mind. Her email is ajtwirlgurl and is at aol. (we are not supposed to post e-mail addresses.) Hope this helps! |
