| Library Science--UMA
I attend the University of Maine at Augusta and am finishing my degree in LibSci. I'll have a BS this coming May. Graduating from college only took me 21 years--LOL. They accepted over 75 credits from the mid-80s at the Indiana Univ. of PA.
If anyone has any online college questions, I'll try to answer.

i already have a traditional BA degree in accounting, and am a CPA with about 25 yrs experience. i'm interested in obtaining a masters in library science online so that I can earn some money doing online research when i retire. i'm looking for a reasonably priced but respectable online college. Any suggestions?

| Drexel and Clarion
Both have online LibSci, an MLS. Each class is about $1500, those 2 are the most recommended by my school...somewhere at my desk I have a listing of the top LibSci/MLS programs, I'll look for you next week and post it here  | |

There's money to be made doing on line research in retirement?
I live in Ohio. When two library staffers quit/retire, one is hired to replace the two. I see this with public librarians, and non-mls staff also.

Hi,
I am happy to hear about someone who has completed this program. My teen son, age 16, who has a physical disability, is interested in doing at least part of his bachelor's by this or similar program, getting a lot of library sci courses and maybe geography/meteorology elsewhere. Did you find doing courses over the web to be easy to manage, in terms of ease of use and communicating with profs etc? Anyway, congratulations on your degree!

he could take classes thru UMA or Northampton Community College, they offer a Library Science Certificate, I think it's 5 classes. It's in Pennsylvania.
I like online, as long as he is good with time management since NO ONE reminds you to do work, register...we did all our stuff thru BlackBoard.

The master of library science is a masters degree. you can't be accredited without a masters.

I see what you mean, I thought you were asking if the college was accredited.
In the state of PA, holding a Bachelor's of Science in LibSci is considered a provisional lib., a MLS is a professional lib.
I run a Children's Library in a public library and have no desire to get my MLS, as I know I couldn't make enough $$ to pay off what I'd have to pay to get the MLS...
