Are there any ABET accredited online fast track computer science programs or resources for finding s

Hello friends,

I am a developer looking to finish my degree relatively quickly (ideally in < 2.5 years considering I have some credits already) I am looking for online computer science or similar I.T programs that are ABET accredited. I more or less just need the accredited degree so it does not necessarily need to be computer science though I would prefer it to be so. It does need to be a fast track online degree however.

I tried searching for tools to find this, but the search tools I came across are showing me mixed results of unaccredited schools, accredited schools, fast track and non fast track. So none of the tools I have come across have been accurate and they are often out-dated. Can anyone suggest any schools or point me to a reference site with accurate information regarding fast track ABET accredited programs.

Thank you

    Florida Tech has online programs.

ABET maintains a list of 100% online programs that they accredit. ABET says that the list is updated annually, so it should be relatively current.

ABET doesn't indicate if any of the listed programs are "fast track", so you would have to do some additional research to see if they are suitable. However, there aren't very many CS/IT-related programs on the list (less than 10), so this may not be too difficult.

Just as an aside - though we don't know your full situation, ABET accreditation in CS is usually not relevant for most employers. A CS and IT program will also differ significantly. If you provide more info on your exact situation people may be able to advise further.

Yes and no. It's true that employers rarely specify ABET accreditation when it comes to hiring; they want to maximize their flexibility.

However, those same employers may have a different attitude when it comes to a separate issue: employee tuition reimbursement. For example, Intel made news about 10 years ago, when they announced that they would only reimburse tuition for AACSB-accredited business courses and ABET-accredited engineering or CS coursework. This was widely seen as a blow to the University of Phoenix (which has neither form of accreditation).

Possibly the OP was hired without a degree, and wants to pursue a degree while continuing to work full-time, but needs ABET accreditation to qualify for tuition reimbursement under the company benefits plan.
