Online AA Transfer to BA at University?

I'm currently working full time while I try to go back to school as an adult. I am taking limited coursework because I have a funky work schedule, and my commute only makes things more difficult.

I am considering attending an accredited online college to finish my AA. I have just started back, and will only have 6 credits after this semester, so I'm not too far in. I would assume I could transfer these credits to my new school. They are English and History classes.

Will I be able to transfer my online degree to a 4yr state university? More specifically USF in Tampa' College of Business in MIS. My plan is to cut back to part time when my BA coursework starts after AA is complete.

I plan on contacting a USF adviser Monday to ask them directly, just looking for experience and feedback here.

Thanks...

Since you mention University of South Florida, I assume you are located in the Sunshine State.

The important factor here is transferability. It's probably a good idea to ask the USF advisor about articulation agreements with community colleges.

For an online AA/AS, I suggest checking out distancelearn.org maintained by the Florida Distance Learning Consortium. At the site, you can search for online AA/AS programs offered by NOT-FOR-PROFIT colleges that are almost guaranteed to cost a fraction of for-profit schools such as Phoenix, Axia, DeVry, and many others. Also, compare associate degree plans with the USF degree you wish to pursue. I recommend an AA or AS in business or business administration if considering a bachelor's in MIS.

You should also determine whether the school is Regionally vs. Nationally accredited. Generally speaking Regionally accredited credits transfer more easily than nationally (counter-intuitive I know). Here is an explanation of the two: Regional v. National Accreditation: Why You Should Care | myUsearch blog

I thinkt hat it would be really, really easy for you to just sign up for online classes through Miami Dade College. Miami Dade has a great transfer articulation agreement with scads of schools and stuff.

you might want to look at Ivy Bridge College of Tiffin University. I think they specialize in providing AA degrees to students looking to transfer to a 4 year program.
